I'm really looking forward to zine club tomorrow! I'm gonna make soup as usual and I think someone is planning to bring a collard greens dish! As always if you're in range (whatever that means to you) you're invited, we meet every Sunday from 5-7pm at Meinolf Weaving School in San Anselmo, California to make and share zine, do crafts and mending, and just hang out and share food and do whatever we want.

Bearberry manzanita (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi) at Point Reyes National Seashore!

This low-growing species is found throughout the Northern Hemisphere, but is rare in California. In Eastern Canada and USA it's known as kinnikinnick, and is a part of some traditional smoking mixtures.

In California it tends to inhabit coastal bluffs at a few locations from Monterey County North. There is also a small population on San Bruno Mountain. I have only seen it a handful of times, it seems not to be able to handle much grazing by cattle. At this location it only survived at very edge of the bluff!

Hey, if you're in Marin, California or within a distance where you'd want to make the trip you're invited to Marin Zine Club!

We've been meeting since August 2023 and sharing free vegan soup every week, making and sharing zines, doing mending and other crafts, and cultivating creative community.

5-7pm every Sunday at Meinolf Weaving School, 141 Tunstead Ave, San Anselmo, CA. All ages welcome.

I'm not sure how people find physically local stuff in the fediverse so I'll try some tags and if you have suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Redwood Dream

I captured this image one early morning in Muir Woods. These trees have always amazed me with their height, beauty, and the resiliency to the environment around them.
There is a special mysticism that can be felt as you walk around these trees and feel the soft bark of these giants.

Redwood Dream This is an abstract image of a redwood forest captured at Muir Woods in Marin County, California. These trees are fairly young and small compared to most redwoods but the feeling is the same as you walk through these ancient trees. I used a slow shutter and in camera movement to create this image. The bark of the trees looks fairly sharp but the branches have some blur to them giving the image a dreamy appearance.
