I think I got a good understanding of <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/jwm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#JWM</a> and <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/compton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Compton</a>. Also had to play with a bunch of web browsers to see what works best and is fully functional (so that I can <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/toot" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#toot</a>); so far <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/epiphany" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Epiphany</a> has worked the best on this low powered machine (but just barely 😬).

Well, in short it broke all my configs or what not. Did a fresh <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Debian</a> install as well as <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/jwm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#JWM</a> and <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/compton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Compton</a>. The transparency effects are now better looking things are running smoother. More tweaks will be needed, but things are getting there and I am getting more practice with configs.

So far it has been pretty straight forward. I will say running it on a <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/mangopiquad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#mangopiquad</a> (<a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/armhf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#armhf</a>) has made it trickier to set up; most tutorials/videos I have found are ppl running JWM on <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/x86" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#X86</a>. So far with <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/clementine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Clementine</a>, <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/btop" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Btop</a>, and <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/kpat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Kpat</a> running I am on average around 65% ram use, 20 to 40% cpu use, and temps averaging around 69 (nice) freedom units.

I kept running into issues with programs freezing and a few just not working. Troubleshooting was just too much of a hassle on Silverblue so I made the very easy switch. The <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/bad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Bad</a>: After lots of tinkering with the <a href="https://polymaths.social/tags/mangopiquad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MangoPiQuad</a>, I think it is pretty much dead to me. It has done the heinous act of no longer being fun. Josh :t_blink:I may do some more tweaking in the future, but I am pretty happy with how things turned out on <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/TrinityDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#TrinityDE</a>. So far it has been a pretty usable lil system. Web browsing is on par with old dial-up. Besides that, after an app opens they seem to be quite responsive/snappy. Josh :t_blink:I installed the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/TrinityDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#TrinityDE</a> and I have to say it gives <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/LXDE" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#LXDE</a> so tight competition. At idle my ram use is lower than LXDE and when using native apps the ram use stays fairly low. As for look, Trinity just looks better has more customization options, AND has <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Snap" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#Snap</a> integration. Josh :t_blink:I have lessened the amount of <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/jank" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#jank</a> with the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MangoPiQuad" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MangoPiQuad</a>. I just installed a dual fan heatsink; fans are now secured unlike the previous on that was just chillin. Here is the before and after. Currently both fans are blowing up. I might tweak it a bit to see if I can get the temps a bit lower. On average running at 48 degrees which is 2 above the larger single fan. <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/sbc" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#sbc</a>

Josh :t_blink:I did some different dock testing on the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MangoPiQuad" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MangoPiQuad</a>. I am running <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#Debian</a> 12 with Openbox. So far my base RAM usage with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/CairoDock" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#CairoDock</a> is around 30 to 32% with a basic dock and system monitoring widget.I tried <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Plank" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#Plank</a> for a hot minute. Plank doesn’t have widgets like Cairo, so I lost the system monitoring function. I paired Plank with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Conky" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#Conky</a> and was averaging 40 to 44% RAM use.I looked into <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Wbar" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#Wbar</a> but that will be for another day. I too tired to do text configurations.

Josh :t_blink:I spent a good chunk of the day slimming down my Debian install on the <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MangoPiQuad" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MangoPiQuad</a>. I moved from (and uninstalled) <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/XFCE" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#XFCE</a> to <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/OpenBox" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#OpenBox</a>. I wholesale uninstalled many preinstalled apps (such as Libre Office, Emacs, Bluez, and much, much more).I installed <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/CairoDock" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#CairoDock</a> and <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Nitrogen" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#Nitrogen</a> I gotta say, it is running smooth. I am even able to run <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/MinecraftPiReborn" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#MinecraftPiReborn</a> with out maxing out the CPU or RAM!
