#OpenMandriva, eine von der #Community herausgegebene Weiterführung von #Mandrake und #Mandriva #Linux, kommt in zwei Geschmacksrichtungen.

OpenMandriva Lx ist der stabile Zweig der seit 2012 veröffentlichten #Distribution. Seit 2023 stellt OpenMandriva Rome den Rolling-Release-Zweig des Projekts dar.

3/. As mentioned here: mastodon.cloud/@WoodooProd/113 (& stated as possible in the Windows XP readme.txt by Microsoft), the goal is to install 4/5 operating systems on the same hard drive & be able to boot them simply!

Next: Windows 98 or Windows 2000 (I always loved Windows 2k) . Then Windows XP. Then Windows 7. I hope.. ( oh, and a #Linux? haha. #kheops #mandrake #slackware )

I come across a Windows XP Pro SP3 installation DVD. Until then nothing very exciting. I almost never read the Readme.htm. Do you do it? Ok, let's go: read it. I click here & there, it's pretty well explained. And I arrive at this chapter which explains that we can quite install multiple different versions of Windows, if we do from the oldest to the most recent. #msdos #windows #windowsXP #boot #multiboot #os #readme

Rozmowa na gilotynowym discordzie* przypomniała mi moje początki z graniem na Linuksie:

Pierwsza próba zainstalowania Quake na Linuksie to był prawdziwy szok. Nie pamiętam, czy to było na Slackware, Mandrake czy Red Hat (oczywiście instalowane z płyty do „Chip Linux Special” i konfigurowane przez przepisywanie zaklęć z poradnika w magazynie), ale w ramach sprawdzanie, o co w tym wszystkim chodzi spróbowałem zainstalować jakiś linuksowy port Quake, o którym przeczytałem.
Nie było tego w paczkach dla distro, pewnie nawet nie wiedziałem, jak sprawdzić, czy jest, więc na dial-upie ściągnąłem .tar.gz ze źródłami. Jechałem według pliku README, ale pierwsze podejście do kompilacji wywaliło masę błędów, których zupełnie nie rozumiałem.
Nie miałem kogo zapytać, więc napisałem do autora, zupełnie od czapy i nie licząc na nic. I szczęka mi opadła, bo typ z drugiego końca świata odpisał komuś obcemu i wytłumaczył cierpliwie, jak instaluje się pakiety -devel, żeby można było kompilować kod i co zrobić, żeby odpalić grę.
To był pierwszy mój kontakt ze środowiskiem linuksiarskim i FOSS i byłem w szoku, że komuś chce się poświęcać czas, żeby za darmo pomóc przy bezpłatnym oprogramowaniu.
Kto wie, czy gdyby nie to doświadczenie, nie siedziałbym dalej na Windows, albo chociaż dłużej.

Cette année marquera ma 20e année sous #linux .

Je suis passé de #Mandrake (#TeamVieux) à #Ubuntu puis à #Fedora .

Le système m'a parfois fait tourner en bourrique (l'arrivée de #gnome 3 en 2011, le couple #wayland #nvidia en ce moment) mais je n'ai __jamais__ regretté l'abandon de Windows.

Le #logiciel #libre est une des plus grande réussite technique/sociale/politique du XXe siècle.

Espérons un adoption encore plus large dans l'année qui vienne - « 2025, year of the linux desktop » 😄
