Tom Henderson: There was a #StarWarsOutlaws 2 in pre-production that was cancelled.

Unless Outlaws performed beyond expectations, I think that was the right call by #Ubisoft. A shame the team won't be able to apply what they learned from the first game. After this, what is next for #Massive?
peter mcconnell's AfterLife soundtrack is the most underrated LucasArts/LFG game music there is, mostly because no one played the game.
the music is also brutally underproduced. instead of redbook audio tracks, the team decided to (criminally) crunch the music down to 8-bit, mono, 22050hz. it sounds like it's coming out of a telephone handset.
today i did some audacity work and extracted one of the tracks directly from the game files, and did a light remaster. only so much can be done to make potato audio sound good, but this is a step in the right direction. it's now stereo. enjoy.
fwiw, this is peter himself playing the electric violin on this track. i had no idea he is a violinist.
it took me 35 years to realize that Pipe Dream for the microsoft entertainment pack - something I played *a lot* as a kid - is Lucasfilm Games' Pipe Dream.
(fwiw, the entire screenshot is a palette of 10 colours. incredible expressiveness with the 3-colour handpainted logo)
One of my most favourite video game songs ever. It still surfaces in my mind unbidden from time to time.
This entire game was a vibe.
Thanks to @0mega I have stumbled upon the interesting article about porting the great #DayOfTheTentacle to Linux by @Cheeseness and the glorious "Tux taking on the world" artwork!

Thanks for the bringing the gane to Linux! Just a while ago I have sent the game as a starting gift to my mother who has a new laptop capable handling some games and is running on #LinuxMint.

The high-res cockpits made for the TIE Fighter DOS CD are notably different from the original low-res versions. Perhaps most striking is how they redid all the damaged versions of the cockpit dials!

Plus, once you start the mission on floppy, the briefing officer says on the radio "Today we write a new legend for starfighter pilots, yes?"
On CD the last word was removed to be more definite: "Today we write a new legend for starfighter pilots."
The officer briefing for this battle was also edited slightly on CD. Most notably, a suggestion of how to make a sneak attack on enemy fighters in order to "catch them with their pants down" was changed to say "catch them unawares".
The briefing text for the final battle of TIE Fighter's Defender of the Empire expansion on floppy is, uh, a little more violent compared to the CD version.
The Battle 10, Mission 1 briefing has some other changes.
Notice Strike Cruiser "Intombe" became "Ayenzii" (in both the briefing and the mission)!
The CD briefing also fixed an instance of planet Kiilimaar being spelled "Kilimaar", and added an important verbal code phrase directly on the map.
More TIE Fighter changes: in the Defender of the Empire floppy expansion, Battle 10 is called "Missile Boat" on the battle selection menu, but "New Threats" in the mission briefings. The CD uses "New Threats" for both.

TIL the name of Battle 7 in the original TIE Fighter floppy version is different than in the DOS CD & later versions.
On floppy it's "Mutiny" on the battle selection screen, but "Treachery at Ottega" in mission briefings. The CD uses "Treachery at Ottega" for both.
In the CD version, when they changed the title on the battle selection screen to make it consistent, they forgot to put it in all caps to match the other battle names!
This might be enough for me to break out my Oculus Quest again.

The NEW Best Star Wars Starfig...
Wer feiert "The Curse Of Monkey Island" genau so wie ich?
