I composed this shot vertically, but ended up using the upper 4x3.25" of the 4x5 negative. Effectively, I wanted a horizontal composition with a 180mm lens (which I have, but didn't have with me). Maybe I'll start carrying it. Luckily with 4x5, you have lots of room to crop in post.

Starting on 14 April is the next Folder Week, a Challenge that's new to me but is a great idea to get out some of the many folding cameras that I seem to be accumulating. The plan is to use the KW Patent Etui from the 1920s with the 118 roll film back, but worst case, the 1940s Agfa Karat could be a worthy substitute.

Gowland 8x10 view camera. Lens: Fujinon C 300mm f/8.5. Film: Fomapan 100. Exposure: 257 sec at f/22. Dev +20%. Process/scan: Gowanus Darkroom.

This shot was somewhat beset. The sun was setting, and I had to climb the creekbed with the camera and kit. It's very light for an 8x10 but still. This is the first time I tried back tilt on this camera with horizontal composition -- and back tilt blocked the film holder. So switched to front tilt to bring creek mostly into focus (and of course that required refocusing). By that time the light had faded so far that the planned f/45 was now f/22 and the time was getting unreasonable because of reciprocity failures. Anyway, you can really see the tilt in the trees and the top. And I see that I accidentally have a tiny amount of swing. Oh well! The things we do for a social media post.

A wooden park bench sit on a concrete pad surrounded by the dry grass of late winter. There are some small patches of snow that has melted to ice. In front of the bench is a makeshift fireplace of gathered stones and it looks out at the unbroken horizon of Lake Ontario.
