@tsherrygeo how is the #KH1 antenna attached? Direct bnc? Something specific to th radio?

Activated Alewife Brook State Reserve after work today. Not bad for a 5 watt radio with a 5 foot whip antenna.

One of the tiny (3 x 3.5mm) micro switches failed on my #Elecraft #KH1 morse key. After a bit of searching I found they are readily available (DigiKey etc) C&K "detect switches" types HDS001L (left side) and HDS001R (right side). Replacement was fairly straightforward but I had to use a PCB microscope and my smallest bit for the soldering! Rig is back up and running again, ready for the next #POTA activation.

@W1CDN I got started early and took Friday off to head to the Brecon Beacons in Wales for a couple of SOTAs. Pen y Fan and Fan Fawr. Was hoping based on the forecast for an inversion and to end up above the clouds in sunshine. But it’s Wales, so I was damp in the clouds with a cold wind! Used my #Elecraft #KH1 for both, hasn’t seen much action so far due to 10M challenge last year (which it doesn’t have). But it’s going to see a lot of use this year!

Map from a quick apres ski activation in Lord State Forest in VT after skiing Killington yesterday.
I mocked up wannabe-KH1 handheld CW-tranceiver, with tuner and battery. The telescope antenna is 1.5m long.
Couldn't get any RBN to spot me but at least local KiwiSDR heard me on from inside house on 40m and 20m - no high hopes for QSOs still :)

I decided to play through Kingdom Hearts 1. Do they ever actually tell you were you should be going or give some kind of hint? The Deep Jungle was hell. 
Last Saturday I completed my first Summits on the Air (SOTA) activation on Mt. Monadnock while hiking with my son's Scout Troop.

My first POTA activation in Italy was a bit of a hike, but the view over La Spieza was worth it. 20 QSOs, 10 countries, 3 P2Ps and a little DX from K2UPD.
