Translation from a German book about #jugendstil design. “MARGARET MACDONALD Graphic designer, Born in 1865, died in 1933 in Chelsea. Studied metalwork and embroidery at the Glasgow School of Art. Influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites. This typical abstraction of Scottish Art Nouveau on one hand, the close connection with architecture on the other. This menu features ornamental design of the restaurant interior, where dishes and cutlery adorned the same motifs.”

For #FensterFreitag a window on a building that looked abandoned when we passed it in Ålesund recently. This architectural style is Jugendstil, a German-influenced form of Art Nouveau that was used heavily in the rebuilding of Ålesund after the fire that destroyed the town in 1904.
