The #Channel4 #ElectoralDebate was set in #Hull, where Andrea Jenkins, Reform UK’s mayoral candidate for Greater Lincolnshire, is reported on instituting a Musk-style ‘DOGE’ project.

The Reform panellists kept that quiet on the program, and no one else mentioned it.

Don't let these bastards destroy our society

"Voters appear to be in a restless mood as Labour faces its first electoral test since its landslide general election victory. #ReformUK is surging in the polls and the #LibDems and #Greens are also seeking to capitalise on voters' apparent disenchantment with #Labour and the #Tories in English local elections."

#FirstGroup has welcomed the Government’s plans for rail reform and the creation of Great #British #Railways (GBR), but urges safeguards to protect passengers. In its consultation response, FirstGroup stresses the need for independent regulation, continued private sector involvement, and protection of open access operators like #Lumo and #Hull #Trains. These elements, it argues, are vital to ensure competition, passenger choice, and best value for the taxpayer. The company calls for a strong passenger watchdog, fair access for non-GBR operators, and long-term investment certainty. First Rail MD Steve Montgomery emphasised that reforms must balance customer, commercial, and infrastructure needs to grow the rail sector efficiently and sustainably.

Lovely article on former Icelandic fisherman visiting the Hull Maritime Project, which manages not to once mention the Cod Wars! As a Hull native who remembers the last one very well, this is quite a feat.

The Local #Transport Grant (LTG) for 2025-2026 is a one-year capital grant designed to supplement the Integrated Transport Block (ITB) funding for local transport and maintenance in England. It is allocated to local transport authorities (LTAs) in the North and Midlands, excluding areas that receive City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS) funding. The funding is calculated based on a formula, with 70% allocated according to population and 30% based on deprivation levels. The total LTG allocation for 2025-2026 is £226 million. Notable allocations include Greater #Lincolnshire Combined County Authority (£25.35 million), #Lancashire Combined County Authority (£34.95 million), and #Hull and East #Yorkshire Combined Authority (£15.63 million). Other authorities such as #Staffordshire and #Worcestershire will receive £15.63 million and £11.13 million, respectively, supporting local transport improvements across #England.

Nobody wants to be there.
Nobody wants to be standing there, listening to him prattle on with his carefully arranged speeches and fake authenticity.

"I'm harming you all for your own good. I am not a Tory, even though I look, sound and act like one. There will be no questions afterwards."
