moki“Nothing is original” <a class="u-url mention" href="https://pixelfed.social/jim.jarmusch" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@jim.jarmusch</a> last weekend i found a photograph of the treehouse i painted for MÄANDER (published by <a class="u-url mention" href="https://pixelfed.social/hatjecantzverlag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@hatjecantzverlag</a>) in the <a class="u-url mention" href="https://pixelfed.social/cabinporn" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@cabinporn</a> book it’s taken from a different angle but you can clearly recognize it. i would like to underline that i am sitting on the shoulders of giants: my paintings are often reworks of the existing works by other artists, like this example shows. i collect, recompose, collage and through recombination and putting the sujets in a new context, awake new associations and create something else. “The modern illusion concerning painting (which postmodernism has done nothing to correct) is that the artist is a creator. Rather he is a receiver. mokiCheirogaleus medius – Fettschwanzmaki ”Den wenig schmeichelhaften Namen dieses Miniatur-Primaten aus Madagaskar mag ein unromantischer Pragmatiker erdacht haben, verweist er doch schnörkellos auf den nach Herz und Hirn wohl wichtigsten Körperteil des Tropenbewohners: den Fettschwanz, ein Depot für kalorische Reserven. Dieses zapft der nachtaktive Lemur während der madagassischen Trockenzeit an. Zwischen April und Oktober, wenn Wasser und Futter knapp sind, zieht sich der Maki in eine Baumhöhle zurück, drosselt seinen Herzschlag von mehr als 300 Schlägen pro Minute auf gerade mal sechs oder weniger und winterschläft — bei 35 Grad Celsius.
