"Since the Trump administration announced plans for mass deportations and rescinded a Biden-era policy that protected spaces like hospitals, medical clinics and churches from immigration enforcement, doctors said they have seen sharp increases in patient anxiety and appointment no-show rates.

If the trend continues, health care officials say, the list of consequences could be long..."

Emily Borghard, a social worker who founded Sidewalk Samaritan, said she recently encountered a man lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. The man declined treatment out of fear he would be deported.

"The Trump administration has terminated a federal advisory committee that issued guidance about preventing the spread of infections in health care facilities.

…Alison Jacobson is w/First Candle, a nonprofit that participated in #SafeToSleep since it began. She says the group will continue its efforts to #educate #parents on safe sleep recommendations, but it doesn't have anywhere near the funding needed to replace the resources that #NIH provided.

"State agencies, departments of #health, #hospitals would reach out…& ask for all of these free resources to be sent to them, which they were able to do. We don't have the ability to do that."

Unintentional suffocation is the leading cause of injury #death among #infants who are less than 12 months old.

#SafeToSleep created the #PublicHealth messaging for this information & distributed it on social media, as well as in pamphlets targeted to specific groups, such as #grandparents, & translated it into different languages. It also provided the materials to #hospitals & #doctor's offices to be handed out to #patients.

#Starvation is dying from a lack of food. It is a slow-paced process.

But, what about depriving the wounded and the sick in #Gaza of #medical treatment by destroying #hospitals, blocking #medical aid, and refusing transfer for treatment abroad?

The wounded and the sick are exposed to a lack of medicines, surgery, treatment, nurses, and doctors. This is all because of conflation by the Israelis.

Shouldn't we call this but medical starvation?

We will.

A registered dietitian point out how stringent the guidelines are; “over half the #hospitals met or exceeded more than half the guidelines….It would not take more than choosing eggs for breakfast and 2 percent milk with meals to exceed the recommended intake of #cholesterol and fat…The provocative conclusions only lead the media and the public to conclude that we are a bunch of dunces who have no understanding of the relation between #nutrition and #disease prevention.”

@BobLefridge #Dunedin resembles what the slippery, destructive UK Tories did. The #hospitals get underfunded to a ridiculous extent. As departments close, equipment is sold off to private companies for ridiculous low amounts close to zero (on the quiet), and essential A&E departments get closed causing people to travel further.

Underfunding and thus harming population is part of right wing psychopathy, also used to make privatisation seem like an only option 'solution' rather than exploitation.

"With several members receiving termination letters and its webpage archived, public health experts believe the days are numbered for CDC's Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC).

HICPAC develops guidance for preventing and controlling healthcare-associated infections."
