MsDB 🦘♀🌈:archlinux: :kde:
Email just received from my #ISP. Not happy. 😠

> From your next bill on or after 21 November 2023, your NBN 50Mbps/20Mbps 500GB ($75) plan will be increasing to $81.
Why is this happening?

> In recent months, you may have heard about the review and variation to NBN’s Special Access Undertaking (SAU).

> The SAU sets the industry standard for wholesale pricing, including their own structure for NBN plans until 2040. Affecting all internet providers, this will have a significant impact on operational costs, causing pricing across the industry to be reviewed.

> Throughout the development of the SAU, we advocated for a proposal where we could better balance our customers’ usage, allowing us to provide a more affordable internet for all Australians.

> Unfortunately, our option was not supported, having a few knock-on effects for our customers. Due to the changes in wholesale pricing, our lower-speed plans will become more expensive, while higher-speed plans will become more affordable.

> Over the past three years, we have not been immune to the rising costs of business but have held off from passing it on to our customers. However, when combined with the SAU, we can no longer afford to do so and need to increase the price of your plan.

> A positive from the new SAU is that NBN will continue to implement high-speed internet infrastructure and services, growing Australians’ access to fibre broadband and making higher speed plans more affordable and accessible.

> The new pricing structure from NBN has meant that we were able to bring down the price of all 100/20 and above plans. All the new plan prices will take effect on 21 November 2023.

***

Huh, so i'm 'sposed to be mollified by news that high speed full-fibre plans will get cheaper. How's that working out for me, then, huh, with my 700 metres of rotted copper between my #FttN house & the stinking #NBN's nearest node? With stinking NBN still having no plans for my area to get upgraded to #FttP, & even when/if that happens, in three more Halley's Comet circuits, i'd have to pay $squillions for the privilege? With my rotted copper giving me a best d/l rate of 37 Mbps on a good day.

Ask me again how pleased i was, & am, that moronic [& as we now know, majority-racist] Strayans voted in madmonk, on that dark stain of a day. 😡 🖕
