Klunker inspired prototype for our in-house brand Huflå; this would later become our model "Evôye le triceratops" (https://lacyclerie.be/triceratops/). Singlespeed parts bin build with custom wheelset (NOS Araya RM20 rims, Campagnolo & Shimano hubs, Sapim spokes).
+ a handbuild steel rack on the last picture.
+ brake levers have been changed since the shooting (these weren't short pull - I'm trying my best -)

"Painkiller"; my 29" bikepacking bike that I made in 2021 during a course in Berlin with Konstantin @drustcycles (https://drustcycles.com/). Main triangle made out of old Columbus Max MTB tubing, sliding drops by Paragon Machine Works. I've made the half-truss fork a year later in Liège as well as the stem.
Microshift Advent X drivetrain vs Paul Klamper brakes: bling where it really matters imho.

A Cannondale "Beast of the East" that was saved from the bin then cleaned and polished.
I made an unicrown fork with longer a/c for comfort plus a minibullmoose stem, and build it with a mix of second hand and bin parts, plus a hammered top cap.
The custom framebag was made out of old Thomson bags by local bag maker Chloé from C.Pouki (https://c-pouki.be/) whose workshop is a few streets away from ours.

This is my main bike for the last 10 years; the frame has been made by my friend Nicolas Noblet (https://noblecycles.be/), the segmented fork was made by -now retired- legendary framebuilder Chistopher Igleheart (https://www.iglebike.com/) who might have been one of the person who designed it, back in the days at Fat Chance Cycles.
This bike has seen many iterations and changes mostly for commuting, long distance riding, traveling, and some gravel/bikepacking. It has been buildt with Campagnolo, Gevenalle, and now our own Hufla shifters, Middleburn cranks, vintage XTR derailleur and Hope/Mavic Open Pro/ Sapim CX Ray wheels. Plus other nice parts from: Sim Works/Honjo, Runwell, Thomson, Zipp, etc...

The first frame I made years ago; I started building it in a basement before we opened La Cyclerie in 2016. Thomas @cyclesrougegorge helped me fixing my mistakes and finishing the frame. It is branded "Deroy" after the name of Armand Deroy, a local framebuilder who was Thomas's teacher and mentor. I later build it the way I prefer; with a mix of second hand and bin parts with a low tech approach. This bike now belongs to a friend.

It's a bit late for the holidays, but we're trying something new with the shop:

Would anyone (anywhere, no need to physically come into the shop unless you want to be fitted in person) like a custom bicycle frame design including 1 hour consultation, custom fitment, and the final schematics and mitering templates (everything you'd need to take it to a machine shop and have a bicycle built)?

We're trying to raise money for a copy of BikeCAD Pro, you can donate, or purchase a custom frame design on our Open Collective project! Custom designs will be fulfilled after the fundraiser is complete. If we can't raise the money and you want your donation back, it will be returned.

3/2 (oops):

Or, an idea someone else just gave me: are there other people who would like to do hobbyist frame design but can't afford BikeCAD? Maybe we could start a co-op that does an old-school computer time share or something and we buy a copy of BikeCAD that we can all take turns using? Although I wonder if this is legal or if the BikeCAD guy wouldn't like it? I have no idea if it's sold "per-seat" or if that means "per-person" or "per-computer".

I wonder if people would purchase bike designs that don't include the actual frame?

Ie. in exchange for a donation you get a design consultation, fitment, schematics, and mitering templates. Even a printed blueprint if you want. If you want an actual frame you'd have everything you need to take to a machine shop (or I could pre-sell a huge discount on the frame if I ever raise the money for the facilities I'd need later, though that seems less likely).

The idea of an Open Source bicycle design was mentioned and it occurred to me that I need to look at alternative ways to raise the money for a BikeCAD license, otherwise I will have forgotten all my frame building knowledge before I can afford it.

The author donated a $300 coupon leaving me with $450 to raise.
