✨Cover Reveal✨
Art by Lawrence Mann

Rarkin dreams of working for Monster Containment, but training at Sythe School puts him on the front line of Organised Crime's bold new tactics. Tactics which stir repressed memories & unresolved feelings. To succeed, Rarkin must confront his trauma head on, & break the cycle of violence in his family.

Remote Play (streaming games from a more powerful PC) with the Steam Deck is really good. Maybe except not getting native HDR, but you can’t have everything :)

Now playing FF VII Remake and I think this is the best way to play it.

So we’re going to Fiji next weekend with some friends, and Husband went out to buy Magic cards to draft with since that his Standard Holiday Activity with said friends.

And he just . . . casually comes back with these?

Just the bald-faced audacity of walking into the games shop, asking for two boxes of Magic cards and being like “oh yeah those are fine whatever.” Incredible flex.

#finalFantasy7Rebirth has kind of done the impossible and sold me on the idea of releasing/producing the game as 3 games.

There's quite a lot that both the battle system and the world map have learned from the first release, and I really don't think a single release could have captured all these info points and esp had the budget (which is, excessive for sure, but appreciated, as a player).

The gameplay upgrades are significant.

Welp, I opened the chest with Shinryu and got wiped immediately. Whoops. Why does FFV put the two superbosses where you have to intentionally avoid them when they will TPKO an unsuspecting party? There's no way of knowing beforehand from the game itself. I can only imagine how frustrating that would be on the original which (I assume) doesn't have auto-quicksaves.

Side question, how do people feel about the purity of the rereleases adding quicksaves that can be reloaded? I beat FFIII's final dungeon (the 3D remake) without quicksave backups and it felt like a true accomplishment.

Rounding out my Blue Magic, I got Mighty Guard from Stingray. I KOd my Berserker so they wouldn't kill it on accident, since they're rare. I didn't realize they're pretty stout.

Then I went to get 1,000 Needles. I thought I was looking for a Cactuar. Turns out it's a Cactus. And also they don't use it without Control.

So I ended up going back to the Pyramid of Moore to get it from a Lamia Queen.

Going through the rift, I was going to try to get Roulette from Level Checker, but my characters were susceptible to lvl 5 Death. So I skipped that, and now I can switch the Dragoon's Learning sub-ability for Blue Magic.

PLOT TWIST: I got Roulette from Azulmagia. Almost stalemated due to Old and White Wind.

Iron Giants are tough when you have Berzerker constantly making him counterattack. I had to lvl up to counter lvl 5 Death from Azulmagia. Also, Alte Roite's Encircle is annoying AF.

PS: If we are purely talking about the original arrangement and instrumentation of the music and soundtrack of the FF6 for the SFC/SNES and FF7 for the PS1 (ie: no Pixel Remasters, no Rebirth/Remake, no ports), Final Fantasy VI wollops Final Fantasy VII.

PSS: Final Fantasy Mystic Quest music slaps way harder than it should. That is all.

Since PixelDailies' theme two days ago was "chocobo", I have Final Fantasy on my mind.
A deep cut—Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (Mystic Quest Legend). A game that I started and didn't finish—I was finding it too easy for my liking. But alas, I am feeling the pull to give it another try. It's music is good. Here's a cover Beautiful Forest, by #OrchestralFantasy
