Simon Peng 🐵<p>Not sure why I felt like it needed to be private for so long, but if anyone else has a Voyager keyboard and is interested, this is my current layout I use on mine: <a href="https://configure.zsa.io/voyager/layouts/65nAX/latest/0" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">configure.zsa.io/voyager/layou</span><span class="invisible">ts/65nAX/latest/0</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/voyager" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>voyager</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/zsa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>zsa</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/splitkeyboard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>splitkeyboard</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/ergomech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ergomech</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/colemak" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>colemak</span></a></p>
Gaveen Prabhasara<p>Family photo. My two ID75 ortholinear/matrix-style custom mechanical keyboards.</p><p>The top one (white, black, and orange colors) is the older, with an Atmel chip, XDA profile PBT keycaps, and QMK/VIA configuration. Usually kept at work.</p><p>The bottom one (white characters on black) is the newer, with a RPi2 chip, MOA profile PBT keycaps, and QMK/Vial configuration. Daily carrying in my backpack.</p><p>This is the trade off of using a custom layout (based on vanilla Colemak) as a unibody split keyboard. However, considering how much direct and indirect posture correction they allowed me, and that I can work all day everyday without any discomfort, I easily consider them a worthy investment.</p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/ergomech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ergomech</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/mechanicalkeyboards" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mechanicalkeyboards</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/keyboards" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>keyboards</span></a> </p><p>PS: sharing late because I now have a phone with a functioning camera again.</p>
Jacob Sam-La Rose<p>Dear muscle memory— I promise to not update this keyboard's keymap for at least the next month to give you a chance to get used to all the new key assignments and combos. Jacob Sam-La Rose<p>My middle right thumb key has been playing up again, so I've started experimenting with a few(!) things. Current <a href="https://toolsforthought.social/tags/keymap" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>keymap</span></a> is probably not the best advert for a 40% <a href="https://toolsforthought.social/tags/ergomech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ergomech</span></a> <a href="https://toolsforthought.social/tags/mechkeeb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>mechkeeb</span></a> <a href="https://toolsforthought.social/tags/Keyboard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Keyboard</span></a>... 🙄</p><p>Leaning deeply into combos. Learning a lot about the difference between things that seem to make sense when abstracted vs things that make actual sense in action. </p><p>Muscle memory is being battered, but it feels good to experiment towards best fit. It will (/may?) pare down in the near future...</p>

Garrett LeSage<p>When your daily-use ergonomic columnar mechanical keyboard breaks and you're without one for a few days and realize it'd take weeks to get a new one (or custom replacement parts)...</p><p>I love my Moonlander (which I thankfully fixed... whew 😅), but I imagine going without an ergo keyboard at all for a few weeks sounds painfully difficult.</p><p>In other words, I might've just ordered a Voyager, possibly as a new main, or at least a backup. 😇</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/ZSA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ZSA</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/Moonlander" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Moonlander</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/Voyager" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Voyager</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/ErgoMech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ErgoMech</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.xyz/tags/keyboard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>keyboard</span></a></p>

Thought it was a firmware issue at one point, but I ended up swapping the microcontrollers over to good effect; the left side wasn't sitting properly in its hot-swap sockets but seems to work fine when installed on the right. /shrug</p><p>Considering learning Colemak-DH. But I really probably don't need to.</p>
Jacob Sam-La Rose<p>I'm in niches of niches. </p><p>I use an <a href="https://toolsforthought.social/tags/iPad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iPad</span></a> as my primary computer. I also use a 36-key split <a href="https://toolsforthought.social/tags/ergomech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ergomech</span></a> keyboard for an input device. So no globe key. <a href="https://toolsforthought.social/tags/iPadOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iPadOS</span></a> allows for remapping a few modifier keys, so I've set my capslock as a globe/fn key (I have a capsword key in my keymap, but that's another story). I also use a few third-party keyboards. Grammarly on occasion. Lazyboard for snippets. Emoji. There are a few gotchas, but mostly I'm happy to be able to set things up in a way that works for me.</p>
