You have probably seen this #viral #infographic on #eu #digitalsovereignty by #reddit user u/lukakopajtic. It was viral but not very accurate 😅 recommending #bluesky and #firefox as "EU alternatives"? How? Anyway, he just updated the infographic, and it's much, much better! Most issues have been corrected. I think there is still a couple of issues I disagree with: 1) recommending #matrix instead of #jabber #xmpp 2) recommending #lineageos instead of #grapheneos (but OK, I can understand this if the focus is on self-sovereignty only), 3) recommending #droidify instead of #accrescent (but, even here, I can understand if the goal is to replace #playstore ), and 4) recommending #thunderbird as a comparison to #gmail (nothing wrong with Thunderbird, but that's an email client, not a Gmail-like suite provider, I would have rather recommended #mailfence or #mailbox ). Kudos for the initiative though, the intentions are good!

I'm typically not big on the whole phone gaming scene, but the #FOSS game on #fdroid (and as always I'll mention I use #droidify as my front-end) called #Breakout71 has me kinda obsessed.

Its a #roguelike twist on the old Breakout formula. And it 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴. Its only 110 KB in size. Its bright. The sound is beautiful. The design is amazing.

It suspends when you exit the window and its a true time-sink for #gaming

I adore #opensource and this one won my heart 💜

If you want to try a fun app, then look into #whoBIRD on #fdroid (or in my case - #droidify coz its pretty)

It let's you capture and log the birds you hear around you. It shows pictures of the birds, in fact its like a kinda #nature version of Pokemon GO

#foss and #opensource like this are just so incredible to me. Such a unique offering I'd never look for, but stumbled across.

Its clean, easy to use, and above all FUN. I love this, and I promise you will too, #fossify

It makes me heart glad that when I scroll #Reddit (by using 'Stealth' from #droidify which let's me browse anonymously and without being logged in) I get to see a place like the #Mastodon sub-reddit being populated with new users asking how to navigate the #fediverse.

Quite a few of them at that!

Seeing the bullshit #facebook is pulling with Linux, and #Twitter with their nonsense. This just makes me a happy girl seeing the alternatives being explored!

@jdavidnet

Its sad, but all so true.

I try my best, I've abandoned all of those places (fb, IG, Twitter, Discord, even reddit - I just use the Stealth app from #droidify to scroll the site without needing an account) and instead stick to the ones which are by and for the people.

But gosh, Justin. It gets exhausting some times :(

Good on you for helping the exodus from the worst places :)

@seq

Oh #droidify is just another front-end, which to me is MUCH prettier and better designed than the basic #fdroid

But...use fdroid to download it and give it a look! It also gives more repositories, so I have fdroid AND IzzyOnDroid repos in mine :)

But there is so many more there, like:

Guardian Project Official Releases
MicroG Project
Netsyms Technologies
Bromite
NewPipe

...and so on

@seq

I found it because I adore #foss, and in particular the #fossdroid sub-reddit, even the fdroid forum! Odd little fun #opensource apps are such fun to me!

Sometimes I'll just scroll through #fdroid (or in my case) #droidify and try different apps that look interesting.

But I'd say that is suffers from that same lack of users everywhere. A sad reality of a solid alternative to the establishment just not getting the numbers!

@boscoandpeck it's well worth it .. a massive amount of #foss #opensource apps that have been prescreened to not include all the nasty stuff you'll find in what you'll find on the playstore ... of course more info and the apk here, fdroid.org then simply refresh the sources (repositories) to get started ... there's even other apps to access the same "store"

I love #droidify it's a bit more updated in it's UI

I just realized that many apps are also built for Android.

I added the official KDE repo to , and now I'm installing on my phone.

Wild!!!

P.S., ok, so Tokodon won't be replacing on my phone any time soon (it's buggy), but I'm just happy that I got to try it. :D
