I am not one to boost up military stuff. As a planet we need to stop fighting wars. But that said, in an era where the USA is no longer a reliable partner and Canada might need to go its own way, the advent of remote controlled drones means we can have a lot more independence for our own defence like these small marine drones. Drone warfare is a fraction of the price of big complex machines, on air, land, or sea.

The delivery, which has not been previously reported, comes as #Russia has stepped up its attacks on Ukraine, including an April 24 missile strike on Kyiv that was the deadliest since last summer.

We hoeven het niet over alles eens te zijn. Maar wat die defensieuitgaven betreft, sla je de plank mis.

Als we e.e.a. op zijn beloop laten, en Rusland er over enkele jaren aan toe zou zijn de EU binnen te vallen, zijn we de klos. Dat de VS dan wel te hulp zou schieten, is niet bepaald gegarandeerd.

Kijk naar Oekraïne, dat is ruim een derde van zijn BBP kwijt aan defensie.

Dan ga ik toch echt liever voor 5% én geen oorlog.

À partir d'aujourd'hui et jusqu'au 23 mai, un certain nombre de pays de l'OTAN participent a des exercices en mer dits « Formidable Shield ».

Le Danemark, les États-Unis, le Canada, la France, la Grande-Bretagne, la Norvège, la Belgique, les Pays-Bas, l'Italie et l'Espagne participent aux exercices.

La frégate danoise Iver Huitfeldt est vue ici en route vers l'exercice « Formidable Shield ».
