New #cricut Maker bundle today! It was the very last one in our local #joann and was only $125. Usually MUCH more expensive!

My old one is behind it, and kinda in pieces.

I was not expecting today to be new Cricut day, but my husband has been keeping an eye on the prices and asked about this one himself.

I'm VERY lucky to have such a husband, oh my actual god.

Just thrilled by this today.

Currently if I want to print custom cards for an RPG or board game I just use my home printer and a guillotine, and it's slow and inaccurate.

Is there a way to automate this process short of getting a full die-cutting machine (like a cricut)? It seems like overkill just to cut out rectangles of paper.

@raphali Ich arbeite seit Jahren schon mit Linux. Daher keine Probleme.

Aber hier liegt noch ein Win10 Notebook rum was meine Frau für Ihren Plotter nutzt. #cricut bietet keine Software für Linux an 😫
Aber vlt nutzt man es nur noch als offline Gerät mit der Software... KA

@emily_s My wife has a cricut.

I've used it a handful of times. The cloud software that it forced upon it is so limited and remedial that I ended up using #Inkscape to create what I wanted (racing number roundels for the cars).

It was a pain to import the Inkscape files but it worked well enough. IIRC I still had to use their cheesey software to set up the layering properly but it worked. Everything useful in the software is a subscription/purchase as well. Double plus evil IMO.

This was last winter. I'd expect the software has been more downgraded since then - wouldn't be surprised if you can't do that any more - or have to pay for it on an import by import basis.

Yep, won't buy another #cricut

I was lamenting that I bought a #Prusa XL after my buddy bought a similar #Bambu that was considerably cheaper. After this Bambu BS I have no regrets.

Ok, first attempt at using iron-on vinyl (like, ever) is….ok but not great. It looks like there are a bunch of spots where the vinyl didn’t fuse. At a guess, those correspond with the dot pattern on my iron sole. Not ideal. I can probably buy a solid sole for the iron OR try to move the iron gently but enough to fuse everything down evenly.

This is why we use scrap fabric.
