I got myself a Melitta Aromaboy, which is the world's cutest coffee maker.

(Standard mug for scale)

We have a big beans-to-coffee machine at the office, but I simply don't like the coffee it brews. I want plain old filter coffee without the crèma or roasty espresso taste. I tried a french press, but that gives it an earthy coldbrew-like taste that I also don't like. It also tends to be too cold once it finished brewing. After that, I used the stovetop espresso maker you can actually see in the background. It worked well and tasted great, but it took a bit too long and it tended to give a loud bang as the metal warped due to the heat. I decided I need a regular old filter coffee machine. But an entire filter machine just for one person? Yep, turns out, that totally exists! I got a used one on Ebay and I absolutely love the retro look, but they actually still produce them! It comes in black, white or beige as seen here. ☕

Spent a week with this Technivorm "clone" (sort of, read on) on the counter, notepad next to it for notes. It's the Olson from Simply Good Coffee, and it performs almost identical to the Moccamaster (temps, brew rate, etc), at half the cost. But it has 2 additional features: flow control dial, and a bloom function. Review being worked on.

Fresh from my studio today - the new OXO 12 Cup Brewer with single serve system. It's a heavyweight.

This is OXO's answer to Breville's Precision Brewer. And while they are similar prices, the OXO doesn't have as many features as the Breville. Still, the final proof is in the cup; we're testing this soon!
