Aaron Priven<p>Today, I picked up my pensioner pass from <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ACTransit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ACTransit</span></a>. One of the benefits of retirement from AC Transit is free bus rides. </p><p>To get there, I caught the day’s last <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/actransit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>actransit</span></a> Line 800 to transfer to BART. It was the last AC Transit trip I’ll ever have to pay for (at least for myself). It was on one of the last Van Hool buses still in operation, one of the 60-foot articulated models. </p><p>I rode BART to downtown Oakland where the AC Transit office is. I picked up my pass. I also picked up a youth Clipper card for my daughter, who just became old enough to have to pay for transit.</p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ClipperCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClipperCard</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/PublicTransportation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PublicTransportation</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Transit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Transit</span></a></p>
Dan Lyke<p>Holy shit. With the state of public transit payments, it's a freaking wonder anyone rides. I am hanging so much trouble with the fucking Clipper app today, and don't really want to wait for the 67 people ahead of me in the phone queue. <a href="https://researchbuzz.masto.host/tags/ClipperCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClipperCard</span></a></p>
Alexis Krieg<p>Turns out that if you get the error message I did and follow the instructions to call they will tell you to clear your browser cache and if that doesn’t work you need to fill out the form to manually have clipper change your credit card info and email it. Customer service can’t actually help on the phone. If the error message said that instead that would have been awesome ! <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ClipperCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClipperCard</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/@AlexisKrieg/113852584282942877" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">sfba.social/@AlexisKrieg/11385</span><span class="invisible">2584282942877</span></a></p>
Leon Bacud 🌉<p>This is the part I cry in <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ClipperCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClipperCard</span></a> for the week</p>
Alexis Krieg<p>Tried to do something with my clipper account earlier today -but the website has "invisible reCAPTCHA and so I can't actually do anything because it thinks I'm a robot - not even submit customer feedback in the contact us menu. And if you call customer support - the only solution - the message is to use the website or wait until business hours. Meanwhile, the email I received this morning demanded action by 6 pm today.<br><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ClipperCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClipperCard</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SFMTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SFMTA</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/CustomerServiceFail" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CustomerServiceFail</span></a></p>
Bronwyn Harris<p>For all you <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SFBA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SFBA</span></a> folks, has anyone had trouble transferring their virtual clipper cards to a new phone?</p><p>Luckily I still have one physical one for guests because both of my virtual ones are not working on new phone <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/clippercard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>clippercard</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ACtransit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ACtransit</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/SFmuni" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SFmuni</span></a></p>
Bronwyn Harris<p>For people who use a <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/clippercard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>clippercard</span></a> for <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/bart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bart</span></a> or <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ACtransit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ACtransit</span></a> or whatever...</p><p>Am I reading the fine print right that once I paid online to "add value" onto the card, the reason I can't see if it made it onto the card is because the funds aren't actually added until I tag in?</p><p>That seems... ridiculous. So I can't check to see if it worked till I get there and am in a hurry?</p>
Ryan Boswell 🏳️‍🌈<p>Visiting Chicago this weekend, and I am reminded of what a well-done <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/PublicTransit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PublicTransit</span></a> access can look like.</p><p>Years ago I was impressed that CTA’s <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Ventra" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ventra</span></a> cards were just prepaid debit cards you could use anywhere, which meant they could help many unbanked people with day to day activities.</p><p>And now, if you have any contactless payment card (digital tap wallets or just a tap-capable physical card) you can use that without using a special card or app or ticket.</p><p>Proprietary transit payment systems need to die. *cough* <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/ClipperCard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClipperCard</span></a> *cough*</p>
