Bill FellowsAn unexpected thing about <a href="https://dataplatform.social/tags/chickens" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#chickens</a> is their feet. Look at those cold, scaly talons.Except they're not. When they step on you, their feet are warm! Like bath water warm. And they don't grasp with a death squeeze like parrots and such. It's more like a toddler's hand, at least at 2 months

Saw her face off against 3 different birds tonight and they all were chased away.Also, the Buff Orpington is a camera junkie and needs the attention.The weather in Kansas City is so gross right now. 3.5 hours tonight was more than enough outside time

~meoralis~I haven't shared a <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/chicken?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#chicken</a> update in a while! Here are the young ones, Cleo and Jette, doing a sphinx impression on top of our chicken playground on a rainy day 🤭 The four of them are now living as a group. The leader, Henna, is sort of a benevolent autocrat who leaves the little ones alone and doesn't mind them coming close. But her second, Stella, is still power-drunk and keeps bullying the underlings when they dare go near the food and snacks. Well. I guess it will stay that way until the little ones are grown up and fight back. 🤷 In the evenings, Cleo and Jette go inside the shelter themselves now, so we have established a new normal where I only have to check occasionally.
