The European Union has banned the use of bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine disruptor widely used in plastics.

This came into effect with Regulation 2024/3190 in late 2024, but it took over 20 years of scientific study to cut out this silent toxin.

A set of #chemicals found in food #packaging, #plastics, & #lotions & #shampoos has been linked to hundreds of thousands of deaths from #HeartDisease, acc/to a study published Tues.
These chemicals, known as #phthalates, were responsible for >350k deaths worldwide in 2018. ~75% of the deaths were in #Asia, the #MiddleEast & the #Pacific — reflecting growing concern about the amount of #plastic in developing countries.

City of North Bay exploring options to remove forever chemicals from drinking water
The northern Ontario city of North Bay says it is exploring options to upgrade its water treatment plant so it can treat per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly referred to as forever chemicals, although there’s no funding currently in place to do that.
