Huang (pian) is made from tea leaves that are sorted out during the production process, usually because they are too developed, too large, or for other aesthetic reasons.</p><p>Some vendors will posit Huang Pian as a good way to try teas from regions whose teas are expensive. </p><p>On the other hand, Huang Pian leaves tend to have different flavor characteristics from the leaves that are chosen to be used for actual raw puerh.
