"Lombardi accused the Blue Angels of unconstitutionally blocking her profanity-laced comments criticizing the U.S. Navy squadron on its Instagram page. She is seeking a court order to unblock her account and prohibit the Blue Angels from blocking any other accounts 'on the basis of viewpoint.'

"As Seafair weekend approaches, a new call to end the Blue Angels in Seattle and a separate lawsuit are bringing a different side of the annual air show into focus.

Seattle-area resident Lauren Lombardi filed a lawsuit on July 21, 2025, against a U.S. Navy Blue Angels commander and two public affairs officials who run the Blue Angels Instagram page, claiming the jet noise traumatized her already sick cat, and then the organization silenced her on social media by blocking her from commenting or messages the Blue Angels on Instagram.

In the summer of 2024, the lawsuit claims Lombardi's cat, Layla, that was already sick with congestive heart disease, suffered more when she was at home on medication and the Blue Angels flew nearby creating a 'sonic barrage.'

'Even through the narcotic fog of sedation and her weakened state, Layla's primitive limbic system overruled her medication and she fled in primal panic beneath furniture, her labored breathing escalating to clinically dangerous levels.'

Layla's condition deteriorated and she spent her last week in a speciality hospital before being humanely euthanized on Aug. 11, 2024.

'Layla's final days on Earth were marred by sadistic suffering - cowering in terror beneath furniture while her ailing heart struggled against the Blue Angels's relentless noise pollution,' the lawsuit reads."

Blue Angels and the Bridge
This is an image of the US Navy Blue Angels flying just south of the Golden Gate Bridge as they make their way into San Francisco. This event takes place yearly wrapping up with the Navy's Fleet Week.
These jets fly in amazingly tight formations and put on a show that can be seen from many great places along San Francisco Bay.

Blue Angels

The Blue Angels until recently have visited the city of San Francisco on an annual basis during what is known as Fleet Week. Fleet Week at one point was a celebration for the Navy and the sailors as they visited various cities around the country. The Navy would pull into port and open up their ships to the public and use the event as a huge public relations tool.

Guess I will have to pull some photos from the archive. I know the #blueangels are in town…. I could hear them all day. Only caught a glimpse. I will be in DC tomorrow and it’s supposed to be a rainy day anyway
