David :SetouchiExplorer:I stopped my car, tried to take a picture, but the kite flew to another pole where the crow followed it. So I quickly took a picture (the one above). I wish it had been better, but I couldn't wait more. Indeed, the black kite flew away after. Its tail was missing quite a few feathers. There's one that more or less shares part of its territory with the crows-by-the-sea. Every time I go for a walk in their territory they will eventually show up, usually at the same spot by the estuary (should I rename them the crows-by-the-estuary?)Yes, I know one bird on these pictures is not a crow. David :SetouchiExplorer:The eagles, the eagles are coming!!!!(actually black kites)It's common to have one or two flying around in the neighborhood, but sometimes a dozen or so arrive at the same time for reasons that belong to themselves (they usually hang out in the fishing port nearby). In June 2024, the organisation received 35-40 rescue calls daily in Delhi-National Capital Region, higher than in April and May. 'Prolonged exposure to high temperatures can lead to dehydration, as birds struggle to find adequate water, impairing their bodily functions and potentially leading to severe health issues or even death. Heat stroke is a significant risk, with symptoms such as laboured breathing, drooling, lethargy and hyperthermia, which can cause organ failure and be fatal if not treated promptly.'"On receiving a call about a bird in distress, most organisations guide the caller on immediate steps to be taken to stabilise the bird. Based on the bird’s situation, an ambulance might be sent and the bird moved to a facility.“'We ask the caller to secure the bird, to take it to a place where there is shade and away from predators like cats, dogs or other birds because the bird is already in a comatose state,' said Bandhanpreet Kaur, manager of veterinary services at PETA India. 'Then we ask them to either pour cold water over its body or wrap the bird in a cold towel/any moist cloth…to reduce their body temperature immediately. Numbers vary from two in the winter, anywhere up to about 15 in the spring and summer, when the fields are being cut for hay, or neighbouring farm has fresh intake of free range <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/chickens" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#chickens</a> or <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/guineafowl" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#guineafowl</a>.
