Poised in Blue-Gray

This blue-gray gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea) dropped by some time ago. Maybe it was hunting spiders among the crepe myrtles, or just curious about the commotion of birds in the area. Hmmm... I think I may have photographed one before and mistaken it for a tufted titmouse. I’ll need to dig through the old photos and check.

My photo gallery features over 1300 carefully selected images. While most are chosen for their visual appeal, a few stand out as novelty shots. Feel free to explore my gallery at:

Foliage and Featherlines

Okay, what in the world is this? It’s definitely not a crisp image. But it does catch a moment in nature. I was probably focused on a blue jay in the trees, and just as I hit the shutter, it bolted—leaving behind a blur. Still, the foliage came through, and off to the side, a small chickadee held its pose near the flowers. Do I have sharper shots from this morning? Absolutely. But none quite this oddly compelling.

The Titmouse Speaks

This is an intriguing image of a tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor). I can’t tell if it’s singing or complaining. Then again, if it were complaining, I suppose it would still count as singing.

Tufted titmice are a favorite among a select group of bird enthusiasts. To celebrate these charming creatures, I’ve curated a special collection dedicated entirely to them in my photo gallery. Take a look!
