Bike tech for us mere mortals is moving at incredible pace.
This computer is basically a head unit that tracks satellites, giving the rider rich accurate info (including altitude lol). For just €20.
The rear light in this set has a gyroscope that senses when you're braking, flashing in an urgent manner that alerts drivers (& cyclists too, I guess) behind you. How cool is that?? And for under €15.

And here, in neighboring #Monterey County, similar efforts include Greenfield Community Science Workshop’s weekly bike ed labs in Greenfield (as mentioned in our Summer Bike Buzz bikemonterey.org/bike-buzz-sum) and occasional GCSW bike workshops in other #Salinas Valley Communities (bikemonterey.org/salinas-valle), i.e., #Chualar, #Greenfield, #Gonzales, #KingCity, #SanArdo, #SanLucas, #Soledad. Among other bike ed efforts in Monterey County: bike repair and maintenance classes at Monterey County Probation Dept Youth Center, the first high school bike tech classes in Monterey County, launched by Bicycling Monterey in 2012. bikemonterey.org/probation-dep

This trend and the obvious advantages of respective tire choices is hardly new. But indeed still "today" (dramatically exaggerated) manufacturers like Canyon introduce Gravel Race Bikes with only 42 mm tire clearance. You can read my take on this (and glean tons of other info) here:

And while I myself do not race Gravel and therefor when testing prototypes, then very few and rather in the bikepacking realm - I do my best to educate, consult and voice the need/want for Gravel and cycling tech towards cycling journalists, bike industry product owners and riders of all levels. Muchas gracias to instructors Frank Henderson and Luciano Rodriguez for completing another successful year of bike maintenance and repair instruction at the Monterey County Probation Department Youth Center. The Youth Center's bike education programs were launched by Bicycling Monterey in 2012.

This mid drive combo motor + gearbox for ebike looks absolutely amazing.

Already a huge ebike fan, but this sort of innovation is the sort of thing that stands to transition an e-bike from fun and great for people accustomed to, or willing to become accustomed to, all the little quirks about bike drive trains, from when to shift, to what oil to use on a chain [not WD-40?!], etc. to "just works"
