Yesterday's Rose

It's been a *looooong* time since I last tried using #Steam #BigPicture. I didn't actually use it a lot, because on my previous laptop under win10, I had *no* earthly idea how to consistently make the audio play through HDMI on my TV. But today, it did work on this laptop with win11 on first try! (Which isn't surprising, HDMI audio works nicely on my monitor too.) And Big Picture usability has apparently been improved a lot, too. PLUS, turns out Xbox wireless controllers pair with this laptop on first try too. Hella nice. Should play more PC games on TV!

...mostly played a bunch of #VampireSurvivors and also played #Flower which I apparently started playing on the old laptop in 2019 but only played a little bit.

Using #gnome with a #steam #bigpicture setup unfortunately sucks. Changing it to login automatically and start steam big picture wasn't that bad.

Here are some problems:

1. You need something to prevent the overview on startup, like extensions.gnome.org/extension
2. Remote desktop dialog pops up randomly, whenever steam tries to do something with the on screen keyboard gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-s
3. Controllers going empty will throw up a permanent notification, even if you enabled DND.

¿Cuál es el último episodio de #Steam para #Linux? Pues la incapacidad de la aplicación de inhibir el apagado de la pantalla, al menos en su versión #Flatpak.

Este nuevo problema se suma a otros que siguen presentes, como la rotura de Steam Input con #BigPicture o el hecho de que la interfaz Big Picture termine funcionando a pocos FPS.

Con este nuevo problema, que obviamente me afecta, puedo considerar ya a Steam para Linux como una aplicación rota. github.com/ValveSoftware/steam
