Trams are Great! So why are the Streetcars SO BAD!?

Recently came across a service that limits **answers** to security questions to be 17chars long. :/
United drops a new game:
Guess the sort code!
Ruled out, by decreasing reasonableness:
* 3-letter code: No.
* Dialling prefix: No.
* Full form of 3-letter abbrev: No. [1]
* Random: Unlikely.
* Distance from me: No.
* Population at last census: No.
* Unicode bytecode for flag emoji: No.
* Degrees of Kevin Bacon: No.
* Height above sea level: No.
* Gross domestic product: No.
[1]: Sorts like 3-letter code, but breaks 2nd letter tie differently.
Terrible toilet door design today at the main train station in Aarhus, Denmark: A display for a card swipe outside which unlocks the door. However, if you touch the door handle within the cubicle it unlocks the door without any indication inside that it's now unlocked - only the display on the outside now shows the cubicle as available.
Apologies to the poor guy who was sitting on the toilet when we swiped to access what looked like an available cubicle, and then opened the door...
Having fun booking a train ticket with SNCF Connect. Holy dark pattern, Batman!
The text says "Do not receive offers or discounts from SNCF Connect to travel in France or in Europe."
Do I toggle or not?

Hey Digitalisierung, wenn ich schneller eine Karte aus meinem Portmonee, aus meiner relativ engen Hosentasche hole als eine Person den Scancode von dem Handy was er bereits in der Hand hält bereit hat machst du was falsch!
Putting someone who is essentially 'Red' against a Red Background is really bad design, the Fascist Administration's Dress Secretary should take note of that next time...
Does anyone else have their apple machine reboot on them willy nilly? My air m2 does that after I have been afk for a while. Instead of waking from sleep, sometimes it just decides to restart. Obviously forgets all the windows and the desktops they were assigned to.
So frustrating. It's such an absolute shitshow of an OS. I wish I didn't have to use it for work :(
@billinkc
Yet another absurd gimmick (along with 'tea bags', etc.) perpetrated by and for people who are too stupid to work out how to use a teapot. As you say, an accident (actually, several accidents) waiting to happen and an ineffective way of controlling the end product. Utter nonsense. :-)

"Violators will be towed away by the severed back half of another, slightly larger, car for some reason..."
To the people who design public bathroom toilet tissue dispensers: My wish is that some day we legislate that you be forced to use your own designs in your own homes for a minimum of a year... and in the home of your mothers just for good measure. #baddesign
In case my feedback to the UTC gets garbled once again, here are the links to the plain text messages I attempted to submit through copy-paste from their new contact page <https://support.unicode.org/osticket/open.php>: no truly WYSIWYG editor, no basic preview mode either...

I'm dreaming of a simple world without technology wanting to "help" us so much. We shouldn't have to struggle to achieve simple tasks...
I believe in the importance of making the web accessible to everyone. But who thought it was a good idea to put the accessibility features button -- literally -- in the dead center of the display *on top* of the text of the page?
I hope this is at least accessible to someone, because it really screws me up. I have to use reader view to be able to read this page.
Setting all grades to "visible" except there are at least two settings buried in menus and submenus that make it "invisible".
Students can't see grades. Takes a while to figure this out.
Fucking #SUNY has apparently decided to disable (WTF) the instructor "student view," so we can't see what students see.
This means yet more time to do really basic things that shouldn't take time at all.
@arstechnica@mastodon.social I know that's somewhat besides the point, but isn't the #WebDesign absolutely horrendous?

Ahahaha. The usb c port on my macbook air is starting to fail - only works when plugged in at a certain angle....
It's about 2.5 years since I've had this machine. Way past its programmed obsolescence I guess.
Now, I can live without a port or two. But the machine only HAS two ports. For EVERYTHING. What an idiotic design decision. Apple sticking to its founding principles: form over function! And dragging the entire sheeple industry with it...
USB-C power connectors are convenient, but both of my laptop's USB-C ports are flaky. If it doesn't sit just right, it doesn't charge.
This is bad. Not as bad as Micro USB and Micro HDMI, but IMO cables shouldn't outlast the devices they connect. #BadDesign
