#AskMastodon I'm looking for a portable projector, that doesn't have smart-tv capabilities or android or any kind of operating system really.

Do you know any?

I need it for teaching, and I'll render code in it so it might need some proper resolution. I normally teach on different places (I visit the companies where I have to teach) so I need it to be as lightweight and small as possible.

Thanks <3

A family member’s Surface laptop went dark the other day. It seems to be Windows-related. I offered to “fix” it for them by installing Ubuntu. I’m thinking of going with Gnome since Unity is too different from the Windows UI, so they’re not completely disoriented. Or should I go with KDE?

If you’ve introduced a Windows user to Linux before, please share your tips!

❓ Does anybody know of a Fediverse instance that supports long-form blogging with images, accepts new members, and is not limited in content to technology?

:boost_requested: Boosts appreciated for visibility, thank you.

If I write systemctl status --all in the terminal I can see some writing about old units like "Unit ntpsec.service could not be found." or something like that.
So the question is, where does #systemd get it from? I haven't had ntpsec for a long time.
and there are no unit files left in the system, but for some reason systemd remembers them and searches for them for some reason, and throws an error.

Can someone who understands international economics please help me understand how this intersects with the crashing dollar? When the Argentine peso moves from a “crawling” peg to the US dollar to this “floating within a moving band” still pegged to the US dollar, are they pulling away from the peg to the US dollar, or still in so deep they’re f*cked?

Thanks.

(I shouldn’t need to say this, but reply-guys will be blocked. Be serious or gtfo.)

Does anyone know a good tool for checking investment growth, accounting for reinvestment, that allows you to input stock ticker symbol (e.g. VOO), purchase date, and purchase amount?

Everyone seems way too hyped up about current stock prices, but dividends account for a significant fraction of growth when you account for reinvestment. I'd like to study that a bit and compare stocks.
