Jason Tubnor 🇦🇺<span class="h-card"><a class="u-url mention" href="https://aus.social/@decryption" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>decryption</span></a></span> Nice. It has the automatic charging, only charging with excess solar. But it isn't clear how this is detected or if the mode has a minimum of 1.5kW rate of charge and will increase on more solar. I love that feature with the new <a class="hashtag" href="https://soc.feditime.com/tag/zappi" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Zappi</a>.

They also have good support via Home Assistant.</p><p>I'm about to move, and I inherit a Pod Point Solo 3S, and the fact that I am going to replace that asap with a Zappi should tell you something about both models :)</p>
Julian Schwarzenbach<p>After 4.5 years of use our <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> has gone pop. The tide mark shows the problem and that water and electricity don’t mix! How common are such problems with <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/EV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EV</span></a> chargers?</p>
Mason Pines<p>Presently I manage my <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/growatt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>growatt</span></a> solar hybrid inverter and batteries through a combination of the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/shinephone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>shinephone</span></a> app, the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/growatt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>growatt</span></a> web portal, and <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/homeassistant" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homeassistant</span></a> </p><p>This works fine for normal stuff, although I need to manually control battery charging times to match up with <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/OctopusEnergy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OctopusEnergy</span></a> tariff I'm on of <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/IntelligentOctopusGo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IntelligentOctopusGo</span></a></p><p>None of this is too difficult, but it is a bit annoying to have to remember to do all the right things in order to control the combination of kit and my <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Myenergi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Myenergi</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> charger to ensure charger my <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/EV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EV</span></a> doesn't drain my solar batteries.</p><p>So I thought I would give <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/WonderWatt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WonderWatt</span></a> a trial and see if this helps automate and manage schedules and IOG charging correctly.</p><p>They offer a 14-day trial, which doesn't appear to be functionally limited, so I'm able to confirm if this does meet all my needs. A monthly subscription of around $6 (not sure what that is in £ for me in the UK) isn't too bad a deal if indeed it does simplify everything for me.</p><p><a href="https://www.wonderwatt.com/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">wonderwatt.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>

Orange Menace<p>Total household electricity consumption since installing the <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> EV charger.</p><p>I realise I’m late to the game with this, but I find it really interesting to see the house base load (fridge, freezer, lights, WiFi, etc) steady around 200W, with small peaks from cooking. The big peaks are EV charging.</p>

The hope is we get an EV later this year, but we’ve a Zappi in since last year and turns out you can let people charge at yours so I’m keen to hear any stories from either side, especially if you’ve used that app (or recommend a similar one)? <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/EVCharging" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EVCharging</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/GoPlugable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GoPlugable</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/EV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EV</span></a></p>

Martin Pugh<p>We got the battery down to about 9% by which point the discharge rate had dropped to about 350W (it seems to start to drop around 18%) so if we want to get it really low we need more time in the equation. Note made.</p><p>I had set the <a href="https://bsd.network/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> smart <a href="https://bsd.network/tags/EV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EV</span></a> charger to the "Stopped" status to prevent it soaking up the export and when the timed schedule came around to restart the charging as the price dropped, the Zappi did not start to boost. I needed to reset the Zappi status to our default "Eco+" mode for the boost charging session to start. Note made.</p><p>So, I think I have all of the settings and controls I need to make this work as smartly as possible, now it's writing the rules and building the automation.</p><p>Every day's a learning day. David Colquhoun<p>Not a bad day for solar PV. Despite some cloud, we charged car from solar enough for 37 free miles, and exported little. Thanks to <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/MyErergi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MyErergi</span></a> app and <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> charger</p>

The makers of the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> chargers, particularly designed to work with solar. MyEnergi offer several home Eco energy systems to help reduce carbon footprint, including Libbi modular 5kWh home battery, Eddi diverting energy to hot water storage. @JordeeBrompton </p><p>Day 3 at @FullyChargedShw ! David Colquhoun<p>Today most of our solar PV was directed to charging our car (though slowly), thanks to <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/MyEnergi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MyEnergi</span></a>'s <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a>. Yesterday most of it was exported to the grid.</p>

Mason Pines<p>So today was the first day this year my <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/solar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solar</span></a> was strong enough to run the house and charge up my 6.5kW <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/battery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>battery</span></a>, and still have plenty of surplus to charge my <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ev</span></a> car.</p><p>Sadly I couldn't move my car initially due to work, and by the time I could my solar surplus was then below the 1.4kW minimum to charge via the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>zappi</span></a> to the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ev</span></a> in eco+ mode.</p><p>A missed opportunity. But shows that as weather and solar radiation improve, I will be able to leverage this with my <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/ev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ev</span></a> (which I didn't have last summer when the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/solar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solar</span></a> was originally installed).</p>
MartinKJ<p>Great January day for <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/solar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solar</span></a>. This morning the <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/homebattery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>homebattery</span></a> got charged to 95%, done two loads of washing and now the <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> is diverting excess to <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/EV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EV</span></a> rather well.</p>
The PlugSeeker<p>The next generation @myenergiuk <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Zappi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Zappi</span></a> is really neat bit of U.K. charging hardware. The new model now has WiFi hub internally and communicates directly from the unit to App via WiFi. Very impressed. Great choice for those considering or with Solar panels.</p>
