Über 12 Tsd jüdische, osteuropäische & oppositionelle Verhaftete wurden eingesetzt, von denen über 5 Tsd ermordet wurden. Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg🪙 1711 behauptete ein Schatzgräber namens Dominicus Sartorius, <a href="https://xn--baw-joa.social/tags/Sch%C3%A4tze" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Schätze</a> mit einer Wünschelrute aufspüren zu können. Unter anderem lokalisierte er zwei Schätze im Wert von 15.000 Gulden im Ort Weiler in der Region <a href="https://xn--baw-joa.social/tags/Blaubeuren" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Blaubeuren</a>. Auch ohne offizielle Erlaubnis konnte er mehrere Männer überreden, im ehemaligen „Nonnen Closter“ nach einem Schatz zu suchen. Sie wurden jedoch beim Graben entdeckt und bei ihnen ein Zettel mit Beschwörungsformeln sichergestellt. Damals herrschte der Volksglaube, dass Schätze von Geistern bewacht würden, welche man durch Beschwörungen bannen müsse. Im Herzogtum Württemberg war jedoch jede Art der Magie strengstens verboten. Sartorius und Komplizen wurden in Blaubeuren inhaftiert, nach einigen Tagen jedoch wieder freigelassen.📜 1712 trat Sartorius im württembergischen Amt Heidenheim in Erscheinung. Hier war er im Besitz eines Patents, das ihm von Herzog Eberhard Ludwig von <a href="https://xn--baw-joa.social/tags/w%C3%BCrttemberg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#württemberg</a> erteilt worden war und ihm erlaubte, im Herzogtum nach Schätzen zu graben. Im Falle eines Fundes sollten der Schatzgräber und der Herzog je die Hälfte erhalten. Sartorius ortete mit seiner Wünschelrute im ehemaligen Kloster Herbrechtingen einen angeblichen Schatz im Wert von etwa 50.000 Gulden. Es gelang ihm jedoch nicht, genügend Helfer für die Grabungen zu finden. Auch im nahen Kloster Anhausen blieb seine <a href="https://xn--baw-joa.social/tags/Schatzsuche" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Schatzsuche</a> erfolglos.👀 Zur selben Zeit, als Sartorius sich in Blaubeuren in Gefangenschaft befand, machte im benachbarten Dorf Suppingen der Wirt des Gasthauses Lamm ein unerwarteter Schatzfund mit Pfennigen und Hellern aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Schuld am Tod des genialen Künstlers sei allein der Stuttgarter Stadtschreiber Johann Elias Meichsner. Tatsächlich hatte Meichsner den Maler erheblich belastet. Aber zu Unrecht? Es ist derselbe Meichsner, der Anfang Mai 1525 massenweise Rundschreiben für den württembergischen Bauernhaufen aufsetzte, um alle Kräfte gegen das herannahende Heer des Schwäbischen Bundes zu aktivieren. War er also eher ein Held des Bauernkriegs? Oder handelte er unter Zwang? Meichsner war stets ein entschiedener Gegner des mörderischen Herzogs Ulrich von <a href="https://xn--baw-joa.social/tags/W%C3%BCrttemberg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Württemberg</a> gewesen. Als Ulrich 1534 wieder die Herrschaft in Stuttgart übernehmen konnte, ließ er Meichsner in den Kerker werfen. Nun drohte Meichsner selbst die Hinrichtung. Doch dann gelang der Badischen Verwandtschaft seine Rettung. Das Staatsarchiv <a href="https://xn--baw-joa.social/tags/Sigmaringen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Sigmaringen</a> bewahrt deshalb auf fast 22.000 Regalmetern Dokumente der Fürsten von Hohenzollern und der preußischen Behörden. Aber auch Schriftgut oberschwäbischer Herrschaften, der Ministerien des Landes Württemberg-Hohenzollern sowie südwürttembergischer Behörden ab 1806 gehören zu den Beständen. Der streitbare Herzog, der kurz zuvor aus Land und Herrschaft vertrieben worden war, versuchte mit Hilfe der Bauern wieder zurückzukommen. Er nutzte deren Aufstand und verbündete sich mit ihnen auch im gemeinsamen Kampf für die Reformation – eine besondere Koalition und einzigartige historische Konstellation, die im Bauernkrieg scheitern musste.
