Milcom Miasma<p>Yesterday I learned about Lieutenant Charles B. Gatewood.</p><p>Who was Charles Gatewood you ask? An honorable man who talked Geronimo and other Apaches into crossing back into the U.S. and surrendering to the army. </p><p>General Miles and the army then reneged on every single promise they made to Geronimo and betrayed the Apaches who scouted for them. Gatewood, for dealing in good faith, was banished by Miles to a small fort in northern Wyoming and obscurity.</p><p><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_B._Gatewood" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_</span><span class="invisible">B._Gatewood</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/WyomingHistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WyomingHistory</span></a></p>
