Outside of comics I've been getting into my woodworking and house improvement era.

I recently finished designing, building and installing my own folding shutters. They were CNC'd from my own designs by a company in Glasgow called Flux Studio.

Now I just need to decorate them and add some handles.

I already know how I can improve the design for when I do the other rooms in the house, but for a first attempt the work so well and block out almost all of the light!

A window looks out onto a street. On the inside of the window are two wooden plywood shutters on either side, folded up neatly.
Similar to the first image, the picture shows the window. However now the right hand shutters have been unfolded and sit flat against the window, showing how they unfold and block out the light.

Last week, I travelled down to the Sjuhärad region to deliver these heddles to Vävkompaniet and visit Åke Erlandsson, who has been making heddles for them for many years. It was awesome to see some of the heddles he's made and his workshop, where he has crafted several hundreds of them.

You can buy these heddles (and my darning mushrooms) on Vävkompaniet's website. Naturally, Åke's fantastic heddles are also available there! 😄

A huge thank you to Maria Stawåsen at Vävkompaniet for coming along and making sure I got to meet Åke.

Secondo voi che probabilità ci sono che un foro praticato in una posizione assolutamente arbitraria sulla faccia superiore vada a coincidere con la vite messa a casaccio sulla faccia inferiore?

Comunque ecco UN pennello (infilato in un altro foro) con il blocco di legno di olivo messo in posizione orizzontale simulata: direi che può andare.

Blocco di olivo in posizione abbastanza orizzontale, con pennello inclinato a circa 30° (dopo misurerò esattamente con il goniometro digitale) infilato in un foro.

Off to the Brownies to assemble the Little Free Library. They're going to screw on the face frame, tack on the trims pieces, and screw the hinges for the door.

Carcase is 3/4" ply. Trim is resawn 1x2 pine. Door is 3/4" white oak with 3/16" plexi. Shelf is 1/2" ply. Two coats of Zinser primer, 2 coats of Rustoleum latex exterior paint. Roof is starter strip material for asphalt roofing.

Once it's built, time for flowers and rainbows!

In front of that is a wooden tool box with saws, paint, caulk, screwdrivers, and other assorted tools. All surround by stacks of wood and storage cases.
