FibroJediHey all, one been on the proverbial back foot all day, but I'm making progress on <a href="https://gamepad.club/tags/crafting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#crafting</a> some Celtic coasters, to give to my MIL who has a craft shed she sells her own things from during tourist season.I'm going to see if something might be good enough to sell, as terrifying as that is. I've already had to learn I'm a human, not a machine, so products are similar but not identical. j.savilaHere are a couple of wooden figures I carved. I tried a new technique—burning patterns into the wood with a soldering iron. I think it worked quite well. These figures don’t really have a specific story behind them, but perhaps they could be seen as some kind of spirits or gnome-like beings from Finnic folk belief. Kalevala often comes to mind with wooden figures like these, but that’s not really my goal or intention when carving. The pieces just tend to turn out the way they do. Anders LundPreparing to glue my plotter housing, which have some none-square angles. I'm using bits and peaces from the scrap box, glue is going to be bio epoxy. This is the final housing I hope, after three cardboard and one plywood models. FibroJediHey all,So, I failed miserably to get up before 1pm today (wifey's not here to wake me up - alarms have limited effect), I also spent most of the day doing housework - and aggravating my pain levels at the same time.On the plus side I made a "Mark I" Celtic-knot coaster.Mark I because it's not a uniform width all the way down which is really hard for me to do. HeapyPhase 2 of the Hide The Ugly Concrete With Greenery: I've built a bespoke planter and growing frame in the sun trap patio behind the garage. It gets the sun most of the day and is pretty sheltered so hopefully things will cover this quickly.Next step is to line it and fill with soil and compost, but Mrs H can do that. I don't know who made them, but they're handcarved and using like proper hardwood, so whomever made them didn't do so out of like crunch.The one I found thrifting was originally a gamebox, compartmentalized in two for dice and a stack of cards. It was not really handy for me, since the lip of the upper was too big, making it super hard to take off. And the compartments was two small for anything.So, I took the tedious task to grind slots into a hardwood box with a rotary tool with no torque and the smallest files in he world. I find patterned spoons a bit twee and stereotypically country-living, but I wanted to try it once.
