Hans-Gerd Gerhards<p>A very interesting post by Taco Verdonschot that doesn't sound hopeful about the future of WordPress and the WordPress community. It's very sad. 😞<br><a href="https://progressplanner.com/real-impact-of-being-banned-from-wordpress/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">progressplanner.com/real-impac</span><span class="invisible">t-of-being-banned-from-wordpress/</span></a><br><a href="https://wp-social.net/tags/wordpress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wordpress</span></a> <a href="https://wp-social.net/tags/wpdrama" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wpdrama</span></a></p>

Hans-Gerd Gerhards<p>Joost de Valk Removed From WCAsia 2025 Speaker Lineup. Joost de Valk was announced as a speaker where he was to speak on the topic, “Launching or Finding a WordPress Product in 2025”. Mullenweg also stated, “ I will not interact with him any further or participate with anything he’s involved with, he’s persona non grata.”<br><a href="https://wp-content.co/newsletter/archive/206/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">wp-content.co/newsletter/archi</span><span class="invisible">ve/206/</span></a><br><a href="https://wp-social.net/tags/wpdrama" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wpdrama</span></a> <a href="https://wp-social.net/tags/wordpress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wordpress</span></a></p>
Seth Goldstein<p><strong>Matt Mullenweg Has Lost His Way And Is Taking It Out On The Community. The Latest…</strong></p><p>Roger Montti over at Search Engine Journal reported that <a href="https://www.searchenginejournal.com/wordpress-leader-mullenweg-silences-joost-de-valk/539387" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">the latest in the WordPress Drama had dropped.</a> Matt Mullenweg, the “leader” of the WordPress project has barred longtime supporter of the project Joost De Valk from speaking at WordCamp Asia, because Matt feels Joost stabbed him in the back.</p><blockquote><p><em>Matt Mullenweg, co-creator of WordPress, posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) announcing that Joost de Valk was no longer speaking at WordCamp Asia and was persona non grata for having “stabbed” him when he was vulnerable and betraying his confidence. Mullenweg cited statements by de Valk to prove his point, but those statements were presented without their full context, which significantly altered their meaning.</em></p></blockquote><p>Matt is seriously unhinged. And what’s scary is that WordPress is suffering because of this insanity. WordPress powers ~40% of the Websites on the Web. There is a lot at stake here if Matt goes nuclear.</p><p>He brought this on himself. And now Matt is paying the price for his actions. But sadly he’s taking the whole fucking community down with him.</p><p>There are efforts to make sure this doesn’t happen, or hopefully doesn’t. But it has a lot of us on edge, me included.</p><p>Seriously, this is one more thing that many of us don’t need right now.</p><p><a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://sethgoldstein.me/tag/joost-de-valk/" target="_blank">#JoostDeValk</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://sethgoldstein.me/tag/matt-mullenweg/" target="_blank">#MattMullenweg</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://sethgoldstein.me/tag/wordcamp/" target="_blank">#wordcamp</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://sethgoldstein.me/tag/wordcamp-asia/" target="_blank">#WordCampAsia</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://sethgoldstein.me/tag/wordpress/" target="_blank">#wordpress</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://sethgoldstein.me/tag/wp-drama/" target="_blank">#WPDrama</a></p>

PlusBrothers<p><strong>Podcast adventure</strong></p><p>Stats are clear: our fantasy stories have very few readers so we are going to transform them into podcast to let more people enjoy them.</p><p>Positive World won’t end here, but we’re building an audio-drama called <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="u-url mention" href="https://podcast.plusbrothers.net/@famigliatradizionale" target="_blank">@<span>famigliatradizionale</span></a> – “traditional family”, in English -, where we bring our characters to life with the same purpose: demolishing HIV stigma and prejudices, with satire. </p><p>Too bad we just have Italian language audio for now, but being amateur and independent bloggers we can’t do all what we want.</p><p>Our site won’t die, we are considering a platform change if <a href="https://www.wpdrama.org" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#wpdrama</a> becomes more serious, but we want to grow in different way as audio and sound effects are becoming more exciting for us.</p><p>Our podcast, unfortunately in Italian only is based on <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="u-url mention" href="https://podlibre.social/@Castopod" target="_blank">@<span>Castopod</span></a> platform, installed on our same server where we host this blog so we’re completely independent from external platform with their own rules.</p><p>We would like to provide English audio too, but at the moment it’s not affordable for us.</p><p>However, a special thanks is addressed to Gianluca <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" class="u-url mention" href="https://mastodon.uno/@futuroprossimo" target="_blank">@<span>futuroprossimo</span></a> as he strongly inspired us without even knowing it.</p>
Peter Müller<p>/2 </p><p>Meanwhile Mullenweg seems to begin to paddle back a little:</p><p>»Mullenweg said recent changes that WP Engine has made has altered his demands. He is no longer asking for money, for example.«</p><p>But even if WPE drops the lawsuit, something is broken. I feel a vague lack of confidence in the future of »WordPress as we knew it«. </p><p>This is largely due to MM's erratic behavior towards the WP community. It's like he dropped his mask, and now I can't un-see what I saw.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WordPress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordPress</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Gutenberg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gutenberg</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WPDrama" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WPDrama</span></a></p>
Peter Müller<p>The 200th Gutenberg release just came out, and I was looking forward to the new FSE stuff presented by Matias Ventura in Tokyo.</p><p>But now AutoMATTic announced a 99% cutback in development hours:</p><p>»How does this affect the timeline? For new stuff, it might slow it down, it might not. It depends on who shows up and commits code. In terms of new functionality, the scope will be smaller.«</p><p>WP dot org is increasingly unpredictable…</p><p><a href="https://www.computerworld.com/article/3801043/matt-mullenweg-wordpress-developer-hours-cutback-may-or-may-not-slow-innovation.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">computerworld.com/article/3801</span><span class="invisible">043/matt-mullenweg-wordpress-developer-hours-cutback-may-or-may-not-slow-innovation.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WordPress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordPress</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Gutenberg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gutenberg</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WPDrama" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WPDrama</span></a></p>
