"The president wants to balance US trade deficits? He can’t do it w/o this industry he hates.

Trump says he wants to reduce our trade deficit. Yet he’s destroying one of our winningest exports: higher education.

Colleges & universities are among US's most competitive INTL exporters. In dollar terms, last year, the US sold more EDU svcs to the rest of the world than it sold in natural gas & coal combined."

With Marco Rubio's State Department canceling #student #visas and jack-booted #ICE officers "disappearing" foreign students, these students shouldn't be forgotten. Universities and student unions should widely distribute Know Your Rights flyers and cards. Provided they consent, their names and stories should be local knowledge with the help of local news reporting. The universities should show some spine and memorialize them, too. What's happening isn't normal.

#Stanford is one of dozens of schools being investigated by the #Trump admin for how they have handled pro-#Palestinian protests & whether they have done enough to combat antisemitism on campus. The admin has also revoked the #visas of several Stanford #students & recent graduates, though the reason is unclear.

I think some of us need a reminder that in January an American green card holder born in Morocco flew all the way across the ocean to Tel Aviv to stab 4 random civilians because he has been radicalized

If someone had checked his social media and asked him a couple questions about it before giving him a US green card, the attack would have been prevented

This is not about theoretical harm

"The Trump Administration has revoked the visas of at least 17 international students or recent graduates attending Massachusetts colleges, their universities announced this weekend.

Three Harvard University students and two recent graduates have had their student visas revoked, the Ivy League school’s International Office announced Sunday. The Harvard International Office, or HIO, said the school learned of the five revocations during a routine review.

Five international students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst had their visas revoked 'and student statuses terminated by the federal government,' Chancellor Javier Reyes announced Friday night.

The Department of Homeland Security also revoked visas and legal immigration status of two current students and five other university community members at UMass Boston, leaders announced Saturday. The other community members included recent graduates participating in 'training programs,' UMass Boston said in an email to the university.

UMass Amherst was not notified by the federal government about the visa revocations but instead through 'proactive checks' of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s database, Reyes said.

Reyes called the revocations 'troubling on several levels. Previously, if a student’s visa was revoked, their legal status wouldn’t immediately be canceled. Under Trump’s administration, students’ legal status are being revoked within hours after the visa, Reyes said."

"Former Costa Rican President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Óscar Arias says he has had his visa to enter the United States revoked.

Arias, 84, said he doesn’t know why his visa was canceled but accepts that the US has the right to make such a decision.

Miguel Guillén, the secretary general of Arias’ National Liberation Party, said the former president had received an email notifying him of the move.

'I don’t know if the revoking of my visa is the product of some sort of retaliation, because I say what I think (and) write what I say,' Arias told a press conference Tuesday.

In recent weeks, Arias had posted messages on social media that were critical of US President Donald Trump and his policies.

In one post, he compared Trump to 'a Roman emperor' who tells other nations what to do. In another, he accused Trump and Vice President JD Vance of insulting and threatening Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a heated White House meeting in February.

'If someone wants to use a reprisal to silence me, well obviously they’re not going to silence me,' he said Tuesday."
