For no particular reason today I'm listening to The Stone Roses. I remember first hearing "She Bangs the Drum" on a driving theme mix CD that came with a copy of Q magazine. This may be the first time I've actually listened to the whole album and not just the singles.

Saturday night classic.
Absolute timeless album that, somehow, sounds even better today than it did back then. How is that even possible?!??
And listen, for me… I know some people like Second Coming (I’ve never met one), but they should have just left it here.
This is just so flawless and note-perfect, they were never going to best it.
Every time I hear anything from Second Coming playing anywhere, I just think, “Can somebody just please put on the first record? What are we doing here?!?!”
I went to see #TheStoneRoses play near Birmingham in Summer '89. I was on my own & when I got there the street in front of the venue was filled with punters & The Stone Roses themselves were standing around chatting. The fire alarm had gone off and the gig was cancelled. I never ended up seeing them live & I often wonder what would have happened to me, musically & stylistically, if the gig went ahead. I was shocked by their flared trousers. I moved to Manchester months later to go to University
