#Teardown2024

Okay here are some non wiggly photos from @crowdsupply #teardown2024

There's @jasoncoon and @geekmomprojects (in the shadowy corner) setting up.

@AlieGG under her arrangement of Jason's technocircles.

@benhencke and @LaserMistress's Synthia (which I just found out was their doing) and @icymakes's out of focus butterfly in the back.

And if anyone knows who did that Mandelbrot thing let me know and I'll tag them.

Feeling inspired after #Teardown2024, gonna do a little schematic and hopefully PCB design with #KiCad, and since one of my goals is to demystify this kind of stuff and make it less intimidating, gonna practice explaining what I'm doing, assuming no pre-existing knowledge.

So if you're curious about how electronics stuff comes into existence, come along and let me know how I'm doing, especially if you don't know anything about it yet! #pcb #circuitdesign #makers #livestream #owncast

Inspired by the retro-computing table at #Teardown2024, I made an optical "punch card reader" (okay, it's a scantron scanner).

I'm using 4x6 index cards since my printer can print on them.

Uses a Pololu reflectance sensor array.

More like scantron than punchcard, but still a fun little project!

Overall, @crowdsupply #Teardown2024 takes the cake for best hacker con I’ve been to so far. It’s like all the best parts of my college experience packed into 3 days. The people I get to hang with and call friends are the very best, I haven’t stayed up laughing until 2am for a very long time. I already miss you all! Thx to @geekmomprojects and @jasoncoon for the photos, and everyone else for making it so much fun. @ishotjr @ArchiteuthisFlux @chipperdoodles @charlyn @icymakes @wizard

A 🧵 about the last 2 days of @crowdsupply #Teardown2024 which was just ER. MEH. GERD. amounts of fun! Adding posts as quick as I can thumb-type. :)

First up - @charlyn ‘s amazing LED jewelry display. I think the whirling ring is my favorite. There were so many thoughtful details in both her designs and her displays, it was super cool to hear how she put it all together. Will post a video at the end, as those take a while to upload.

Decompressing at the airport while waiting for my flight home from #teardown2024. It was an absolutely wonderful weekend. Well paced, with great conversations, presentations, social gatherings and exhibitions. Kudos to @crowdsupply and in particular @helenleigh for talking the time to consider the innumerable details that went into making it a welcoming and engaging event. While waiting for my flight, I'm going to try to post some new (non-chronological) images from the weekend.

I never imagined that I would ever get x-ray images of a printed circuit board that I designed! This is my 1" F128 with @adafruit QT Py onboard. I have 24 more images like this that I need to figure out how to perspective correct and stitch together.
Thank you so much to Ken from Chippie for capturing these at @crowdsupply #TearDown2024!

I'm closer to finding words for how #teardown2024 was for me while it's fresh

So I'm a huge relational dynamics and trauma nerd. I almost became a therapist, went into tech instead

Teardown, for me, isn't just Teardown. It represents a genre of events, the whole niche industry I'm sliding into, tech generally

And it was GOOD. But COMPLEX. Emotionally? Like feeling NRE (new relationship energy) that you also feel is untrustworthy, might drop you if you aren't rich, smart, lovely enough
