I need your help in an a perhaps unusual IT support matter. Since the mid 80s (when we got our first "personal computer") I have been supporting my parents in IT matters. Initially I had to come by when they had issues, before the internet got reliable enough to connect via VPN/VNC. We had an agreement, that I was allowed to take over his PC remotely, without any interaction from his side.
When he got older, I "had to" take away privileges on his PC in stages, as he stared to cause random issues, which took a lot of both of our time. Another step was to replace his wifi printer with a wired one, as the connection became so dodgy, that on a daily basis I had to troubleshoot from an 800 km distance. As long I had a decent network connection I was basically to do everything.
Now, at the age of 89, he is starting to get more and more issues / difficulties with his (android) phone. As with his PC I would like to be able to help him, but as I can't take over his phone like his PC, it is not as eay. We have been trying to use Jitsi, where there is an option to do screensharing, but he is struggling enabling this. The concept of going into a meeting room and then choose options to share his screen has proven to be too difficult.
So, I'm looking for a possibility to view his screen without too much interaction from his side. I know, this sounds quite like stalker-ware, but this is basically the only way I would be able to help him with issues on his phone. Even on his age he is trying to keep everything going and I'm very much willing to support him in that, but it is getting pretty challenging.
Are there any apps that would provide in such a use case? Thanks a lot for your help! Boosting would be appreciated.
