Apel's <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/art?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#art</a> can be found all over <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Magdeburg?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Magdeburg</a>. Another of his works is the quirky bird door handle of the Cathedral which I posted a while ago. You can find this statue in front of <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Johanniskirche?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Johanniskirche</a> (St. John's church) in Magdeburg. Maybe you remember that there was a car attack on Magdeburg's Christmas market last December, killing 6 people and injuring hundreds of others. This happened only a stone's throw from the church, and, as you may see here, there are still flowers, candles, and messages to remember the victims. This is <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/Krodo?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Krodo</a>, a Germanic god of the Saxons who is depicted with a fish (water/food), a sun cross (time), clothes blowing in the wind (wind/air), and a bucket of roses (love/fertility). Nobody knows if he was a real god or just a legend picked up by a 15th century chronicle (the author failed to mention any sources and contemporaries already had their doubts). Today's historians think it may be a fake, but the town of <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/BadHarzburg?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#BadHarzburg</a> still uses him as a mascot.
