@Anachron @mxk @starlabssystems very long time for it to finally arrive. I ordered it ~2 years ago iirc (would need to check the exact date). I have one of the early model modes from the first batch, i.e. it has a 3k display and a N200 chip. Some things might (!) have bevome better with the N350 and the 2k screen of later batches but most of my points still stand. From my experience and for my use case/expectations, it's disappointing to say the least. <<

@Anachron @mxk @starlabssystems holding the tablet, especially in portrait orientation.
- The cameras are abysmal. Both of them.
- The speakers sound very tinny, are pretty silent and have sideways orientations. They should be front facing. It's a media consumption device after all.
- The overall weight is a bit too much. Holding something like 900g of electronics for a prolonged period of time is just not comfortable.

Overall I don't really use the device although I waited a >

@Anachron @mxk @starlabssystems too heavy to be properly secured by the connector pins and the slim resting area around them.
- The tablet gets pretty warm under light to medium use. You might even call it hot because it's uncomfortable to hold. This becomes especially evident when charging (even with a slow charging adapter).
- The general usability and build quality is fine but there are some hollow spots underneath the bezels of the display and those might creak a bit when >

@Anachron @mxk @starlabssystems I always wanted to write a full review with my impressions of the #StarLiteMkV but never got around to it. Just a few notes:

- Battery life is bad, especially for a portable device.
- Screen has great colours and sharpness but brightness is very lacklustre.
- The attachable keyboard is annoyingly bad and I regret buying it. The kickstand is wobbly, you cannot rest it on your lap (or actually anywhere else except a stable surface like a table). Also the tablet is>

Can I brag about my @starlabssystems for a minute and tell how great it is to have an actual tablet that works and actually gets better every month because the firmware and linux kernel are getting updated as frequently, fixing issues and adding new features for no additional cost?

Thank you StarlabsSystems and all the best!

After updating my uefi (coreboot) on my I kept getting a uefi menu on Boot, I was however able to boot from uefi and then did a reinstall of grub and now its fixed. Looks like my uefi menu got deleted or messed up on Firmware upgrade.

Okay, here is my first impression of my @starlabssystems tablet:

It's chunky. Oh boy. It's also heavy. It doesn't feel cheap, it's sturdy and it's quite beautiful.

I like the display. Even though it's not 3K anymore, the 2K screen is great. The touchscreen is not really too great for KDE plasma (non mobile), so I will see if I can get plasma mobile packaged for Void sometime later.

The keyboard is fine, the key travel is ok. [1/?]

@starlabssystems I also received mine yesterday and I'm already in love with it!

I put Debian 12 on it and it's really nice in tablet mode with GNOME!
I also managed to get an onscreen keyboard for the LUKS HDD encryption, thanks to osk-sdl!

I also ordered a Starport Dock and it's going to replace my desktop computer entirely.
Also with the MPP pen it makes a nice notepad together with Xournal.

The only thing that is a bit inconvinient is the missing kick stand without the type cover. But I'm sure I'll find a solution for that, as well.

Thanks for the great device!

Oh right, a few more quick notes about the @starlabssystems #StarLite (#StarLiteMkV):

- The device runs hot while idling on the desktop. It's unbearable to hold it for more than a few seconds. Sean has mentioned that this might have to do with...
- The touchscreen stops responding from time to time. There's nothing one can do but reboot the machine, as it seems. A patch is already provided to #LVFS and should be available soon. This patch might also reduce the temperature due to the load.
