dcissell 🇺🇦<p>Still learning about Mastodon and trying hashtags!<br /> <br />For a <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Genealogy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Genealogy</span></a> Project, I have been tracing surname lines with <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/GeneticGenealogy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>GeneticGenealogy</span></a> using <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Y_Chromosome" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Y_Chromosome</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/SnpTests" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SnpTests</span></a> from Family Tree DNA ( <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/FTDNA" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>FTDNA</span></a> ). That has worked out very well.<br /> <br />Now am trying to look at autosomal SNPs from <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/WholeGenomeSequencing" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WholeGenomeSequencing</span></a> ( <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/WGS" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>WGS</span></a> ) tests to detect possible common ancestors back 9-12 generations or so. Want to see if very rare genetic variants ( <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/vrGV" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>vrGV</span></a> ) can be used in some way to identify those possible connections.</p>
