@mhoye @michaelcoyote I think that's what #SnowflakeOS snowflakeos.org/ is trying to do.

Their nix-software-center: A simple gtk4/libadwaita software center to easily install and manage nix packages github.com/snowfallorg/nix-sof would really have made life easier for the OP... at least in the getting started phase.

@batvin3211 @ublue I have high hopes for #SnowflakeOS snowflakeos.org/ which looks very promising. Having an actual Software Store style UI for adding packages, and a configuration editor could help make it much more accessible and maybe ease some of your maintenance burden. I'm really hoping that their work makes it back upstream to core #nixos

I'm happy to announce that #SnowflakeOS and its related projects from @vlinkz is joining #SnowfallOrg!

I've been extremely excited with the work that @vlinkz has been doing. We found there was some overlap with what Snowfall Lib could provide for SnowflakeOS and bringing the projects under the same roof will make it much easier to coordinate!

@Conor Murphy @Joe Ressington I think the #cinnamon desktop is great.
Do you know @SnowflakeOS ?
#snowflakeos is based on #nixos and also has the goal to be an easy to use Linux distro. It has a graphical configuration and package manager.
I would love it, if your distro or snowflake had a really easy encrypted ZFS install.
As I have different user accounts for different usages, e.g. development and banking I would like to have each users home encrypted with ZFS by PAM.
You could automate it for friends and family to make automated backups to your server.
