Jon CartwrightI’ve just finished a kitbash of Art the Clown from the Terrifier series of films, for use as a Killer in Don’t Look Back. Hell of a challenge and I’m delighted with the result!<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/28mmminiatures?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#28mmminiatures</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/tabletopgaming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#tabletopgaming</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/miniaturepainting?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#miniaturepainting</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/wargaming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#wargaming</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/miniatures?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#miniatures</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/bssterrain?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#bssterrain</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/blacksitestudios?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#blacksitestudios</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/dontlookbackgame?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#dontlookbackgame</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/tabletopwargaming?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#tabletopwargaming</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/horror?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#horror</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/dontlookback?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#dontlookback</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/slasher?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#slasher</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/terrifier?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#terrifier</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/kitbash?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#kitbash</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/greenstuff?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#greenstuff</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/milliput?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#milliput</a>
Paul<p>Finished watching Time Cut (2024) 🎬 on Netflix. It won't be for everyone and I understand that but its completely my kind of cheesy horror movie. I love those slasher movies which hybrid with sci-fi/Back To The Future to make something different. They're always a throwback to a cool soundtrack. Its just a fun watch. This one is great for those who don't like gore either. <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/movies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>movies</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/horrormovies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horrormovies</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/scifi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>scifi</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/slasher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>slasher</span></a> <a href="https://metalhead.club/tags/timetravel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>timetravel</span></a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8F6yN56zB0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=a8F6yN56zB</span><span class="invisible">0</span></a></p>

Andrew Kuchling<p>DON'T FEAR THE REAPER, by Stephen Graham Jones, is a sequel to MY HEART IS A CHAINSAW, picking up a few years after the violent massacre that caps the first book. The protagonist Jade Daniels was sent to prison for supposedly murdering her father, as caught on video, but the case has been overturned &amp; she's been set free to return home to her home town of Proofrock, Idaho.</p><p>But at the same time as her return home, a serial killer named Dark Mill South is being transported in a convoy nearby... and escapes in the middle of a snowstorm. The town is now being snowed in and high-schoolers start getting killed again, in new messy and memorable ways. Jade meets Cinnamon and Ginger Baker, twin sisters who she rescued in the first book, but Ginger is institutionalized and Cinnamon may be a new Final Girl herself. Jade's beloved history teacher has been replaced by a new one, Mr Armitage, who has his own obsession with slasher-movie history.</p><p>I enjoyed reading this but didn't like it as much as the first book. One problem was Mr Armitage: Jade's relentless quoting of obscure slashers in the first book defined her character, but having a *second* character in this book also do that got tedious. (I did like that Jade's movie knowledge was 5 years out of date -- she's been in prison, after all!) </p><p>It's also intricately cryptic; there are a lot of deaths, caused by different people and entities, and it was hard for me to understand how everything fits together. Maybe this is deliberate ambiguity, though.</p><p>I did like the increasingly kind relationship between Jade &amp; the elderly Sheriff Hardy, and also the supernatural aspects of the plot, which are sort of a variation on book #1's Lake Witch but are rearranged in a way that I found pretty poignant. The whole book concludes on a sad and poignant note, really. It was tough to disentangle the plot, but I'm still in for book #3.</p><p><a href="https://dmv.community/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/bookstodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bookstodon</span></a> <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/horror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horror</span></a> <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/slasher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>slasher</span></a> <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/StephenGrahamJones" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>StephenGrahamJones</span></a> <a href="https://dmv.community/tags/DontFearTheReaper" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DontFearTheReaper</span></a></p>

Lucas Asher<p>Like the&nbsp;Final Girl&nbsp;board games,&nbsp;Maple Island Massacre&nbsp;is&nbsp;hard. I played three quick rounds and lost the first two--one by a lot, and the second very narrowly. This really helps with the whole horror vibe--it is very easy to die. <a href="https://www.veritastabletop.com/maple-island-massacre/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">veritastabletop.com/maple-isla</span><span class="invisible">nd-massacre/</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/solorpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solorpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/horror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horror</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/slasher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>slasher</span></a></p>
Lucas Asher<p>Maple Island Massacre reminds me a lot of the Final Girl board games, but a lot more rules-lite and less of a time commitment . <a href="https://www.veritastabletop.com/maple-island-massacre/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">veritastabletop.com/maple-isla</span><span class="invisible">nd-massacre/</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/solorpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solorpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/horror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horror</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/slasher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>slasher</span></a></p>
Lucas Asher<p>Maple Island Massacre&nbsp;is a tightly-written, well-paced genre emulator for a slasher. It's on the border of "role-playing" and "board game" because there's not much of a story or opportunity for characterization. But I think that is ok, and it is not the goal of the game. <a href="https://www.veritastabletop.com/maple-island-massacre/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">veritastabletop.com/maple-isla</span><span class="invisible">nd-massacre/</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/solorpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solorpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/horror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horror</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/slasher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>slasher</span></a></p>

Lucas Asher<p>Aaron Best has created a fun and simple framework, and I'd love to see more horror flicks represented in modular playsets for the game. Is it a good critique in a review to say "give me more content"? <a href="https://www.veritastabletop.com/maple-island-massacre/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">veritastabletop.com/maple-isla</span><span class="invisible">nd-massacre/</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/solorpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solorpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/horror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horror</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/slasher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>slasher</span></a></p>
Lucas Asher<p>While Maple Island Massacre is challenging and close fought in my experience even when I won, that feels right for a slasher. If it were too easy, the victory would feel cheap. There are a lot of paths where the villain kills you, and only one avenue to victory--that feels right for a horror game. <a href="https://www.veritastabletop.com/maple-island-massacre/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">veritastabletop.com/maple-isla</span><span class="invisible">nd-massacre/</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/solorpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solorpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/ttrpg" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ttrpg</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/horror" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>horror</span></a> <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/slasher" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>slasher</span></a></p>
Lucas Asher<p>Maple Island Massacre by Aaron Best is more of a "game" than many solo RPGs.
