I just found your great post about Shiny apps in Docker Containers [1] and got an app running on my server. I then tried to access the app from another computer, using the server IP address (<server_ip>:<port>). The app loads - but broken. Due to a websocket error.

Funny that if I do a port forward from the server to this second computer and navigate to "<localhost>:<port>", it works!

Any idea what is going on?

The other day my friend Kacie Lees and I ran another one of our BYOG mirror parties at Urbanglass. I felt kinda bad sending Ari the registrar out for a last minute paper cup run for mixing chemicals, but my heart was warmed when she hung the glass chain we mirrored for her on her desk.

Speaking of Mirrors, you can catch, Your Magic Is Real at Urbanglass in downtown Brooklyn. It has lots of mirrors in it- and you will need to work with a friend and hold hands to activate it.

If you REALLY have FOMO, Kacie and I are teaching a more intense mirror and neon class in a few weeks. Mirror World will run in the evenings at Urbanglass- March 25th-29th and is a neon AND mirror class. I attached a photo of a rainbow celebration sculpture I made at a show Kacie curated on Governors Island back in 2019. I really gotta return to that silver rainbow body of work.

Have modeled EVERY major performance calculation for this C172S. Can fetch METAR to autopopulate elev, baro, and temp. Handles PAlt, DAlt, headwinds. Calculates climb from field elev to goal altitude. Need good weather for #studentpilot solo long XC. Just wish I flew better. #avgeek #rstats #shiny

Shiny App for Cessna 172S performance calculations. Can manually enter all data, or enter an airport ICAO ID to fetch METAR weather information.

Calculates pressure altitude, expected ISA standard temperature and difference, and density altitude.

Takeoff calculations take into account pressure / temp / head + tailwinds.

Climb calculations take into account starting and ending elevations to determine distance / fuel / time needed to reach goal elevation.

Cruise calculations take into account display %MCP power, KTAS, and GPH fuel consumption when hovering over selected RPM.
Landing calculations. Excessive %MCP is noted by red dots.

Landing calculations take into account temp, PAlt, and head/tailwinds.

Plots of the short field take off data directly from the POH.

Plots of data directly from the time, fuel, and distance to climb. Takes into account temperature.

A nice feature is that I calculates the amount of time / distance / fuel needed from the starting field elevation to the goal indicated altitude, to avoid needing to figure that out manually.

I actually don't have any intention to share this publicly, because I don't want to be responsible for any mistakes that might harm others.

That being said, if it accidentally leaks, I leave a very blunt disclaimer.

If you use this instead of doing your own preflight planning, I would like you to imagine the YouTube video describing
the subsequent accident and NTSB report.

I made a #shiny app to do my C172S cruise performance calculations. I know apps out there already do this, but creating my own ensures I understand it fully. Thinking of adding takeoff and landing performance. Will make it easy to do the calcs every time. #studentpilot #rstats #datavis
