More than 100,000 African #seeds put in #Svalbard Global #SeedVault for safekeeping
Seeds of 177 species from across #Africa to be stored in Norway to preserve #crop diversity in case of disaster.
Among the latest additions are seeds critical to building #climate resilience, such as the tree Faidherbia albida, which turns nitrogen into ammonia and nitrates, and Cordia africana, the Sudan teak, a tree renowned for its strength and durability.

"Doomsday Vault 78°N - Approach"

SOUND ON, headphones suggested.

Quite proud of this: while there's still lots of work to do and many more subjects to master, I feel like things are coming together. Inspired by the Global Seed Vault in Svalbard, Norway.

also insbesondere die Android Fraktion.

This user was created 3 days ago on a Nextcloud running on a non-standard port to backup #LineageOS #LineageOS22 #Fairphone 3+ using #seedvault

Based on the setup the shown IP was definitely never used by me.

Is there any security exploit known?

I really like the backup function in #GrapheneOS based on #Seedvault. I know it doesn't work 100%, some apps don't support it etc. But in my case >90% of apps get backed up and restored.

This is what all Androids should have. I understand #Google doesn't want to do it because for them #Android is just a gateway to their services and when you have all your data in their cloud, you don't need such backups. But other Android vendors should have it.

So 12 hours with #IodeOS maybe a bit early for feedback. But I'm thrilled. Everything is running. Unlike #eOS I have Android 15 and #seedvault is running. I had to set up a #ntfy server (hello #uberspace) so #moshidon (#fdroid) pushes, but that's not bad.
I know there are even freer #androids out there, but for me it's a mix of privacy, simplicity and a whole lot of good feeling.
Also important: it has to run on the #fairphone5, because I specifically bought it for sustainability.

To my surprise, Lineage OS 22 SeedVault worked near perfect to restore my apps & files to my non-root android phone from a backup in external storage.

This is the first time SeedVault has produced an acceptable result, apps which didn't get restored properly might be their own fault.

I'd like to explore and find out what makes SeedVault tick, then one day I might finally have my dream of perfect offline data restoration to a Lineage OS device.

I have a LineageOS phone (version 21, similar to Android 14). I recently backed it up with Seedvault. But "Messaging", the default SMS/MMS texting app, didn't back up (see image).

A while ago I downloaded the Fossify Message App from f-droid, but haven't used it (note "Messages" app in image). But I'm thinking perhaps this would be better. Is anyone here currently using it? And if so, does it properly back up via Seedvault?

Datenspiegelungen. Ich nutze dafür u.a. #Syncthing bzw.
