The latest Takoma Natives blog from Friends of Native Trees in Takoma focuses on Jeremy, a Takoma Park gardener who has developed a vibrant native garden by sowing seeds. You don't have to be a gardener to save money by growing native plants in your yard from seed (or at least buying plugs instead of full-sized plants). https://fontt.org/2024/08/27/direct-sowed-seeds-inspire-a-gardener/

I think summer's going to seed! As 'Storm Lilian' rattles across the UK bringing gale-force winds and heavy rain for some parts of the UK, it's feeling like the season has already given way to autumn. Fingers crossed the forecasters are correct and more summer-like weather is set to return in the coming week.
Drying out #Poppy #SeedHeads.
Saving some to sow next year. Giving some to friends. Putting a few, after I package up, in my future community free #seeds library - setting it up in September.
One of my last #poppy blooms. Almost all have bloomed & #GoneToSeed now.
#Willowherb #SeedHeads
#Parsley #flowers going to seed.
#Carrot flowers going to seed.
These are #willow #SeedHeads - very interesting #botanical beauties. The foliage on these halberd willows is super soft & velvety to touch
My #happy moment of the day: Saw a beautiful #goldfinch on a #teasel #seedhead this morning. So rewarding because it confirms how important it is to leave #seedheads standing over the #winter.
