So, yesterday #SearXNG connection stats shows 15144 attempts from GPTBot/1.0; to access /robots.txt, from 220 IPv4 addresses. At least, it tried to read the file before trying anything else...
@ueeu You might like to include @disroot in your 2 lists (#Akkoma is a part of #Fediverse social network, like #Mastodon). #Roundcube #SearxNG
#selfhosting
Vielen Dank dafür. @uberspace begeistert mich total.

The wait is (almost) over: Gugal 0.9's first preview version is out!
This update brings features like:
- Support for Stract, an independent search engine,
- An option to move the search bar to the bottom,
- A warning for when there is no Internet,
- Support for HTTP authentication in SearX,
- An experimental backup feature,
- and many more!
Download today at https://gugal.gitlab.io/preview. Note that preview versions aren't as stable as regular versions.
@mtconleyuk @gerrymcgovern @duckduckgo sorry but we also just know these params for DDG. And ai chat will always stay (when we tested it).
Since we're using mostly #SearXNG to prevent tracking or profiling while searching we didn't dig deeper.
The fix will come in Gugal 0.8.4.
The changelogs will be up soon, and the version itself will be released in about a week to give translators time to translate a string that was added in this version.
Note that, due to limitations in SearXNG, the rate limits won't be removed entirely. However, Gugal won't be instantly rate limited, and instances won't be marked as "unsupported".
It crushes running websites, #searxng, and the like but will be a non-starter if you want services only compatible with arm64/amd64.
I'm aware of issues when using Gugal with the latest version of SearXNG. It seems that this is because Gugal's requests are incorrectly being recognized as bot requests. A fix will come later as a minor update to 0.8.
I just did a quick comparison of how search results looks on Google, DuckDuckGo, and self-hosted SearXNG
First Google: three screenshots and few actual search results
Dear readers, this TrustNoOne special day is the perfect one to advertise for this #SearXNG instance hosted on #OpenBSD and freely available. It will allow you to fact-check all the news you’ll get today

Just successfully set up a personal searxng instance on a raspberry pi on my tailnet so I can access it with all my devices and I’m feeling like a hacker-ninja. Time for bed.

Woops! Sorry folks, I started the #SearXNG update on the wrong instance; the one that was actually live. And the other is not ready yet...
The service will be down until the upgrade is finished. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Blue/Green doesn't solve the between chair and screen bug...
