My boat is still in dry dock and I'm positioned very close to the crane that they use to haul boats out of water to work on them. This morning I captured a short video of them hauling a sailboat out of the water and putting it on their boat-moving trailer. They are power washing it now. Photos show the progression of the crane's sling being placed around the boat while it's still in the water, a screen grab of the actual movement video I shot, and the boat on the trailer. #boating #sailboats

Such pictures were popular in seventeenth-century Holland because they were exciting, but they were also a reminder of the dangers encountered by the hundreds of mariners who were an important part of the country’s prosperity.
By the way, for people who are not #sailboat obsessed: boats are sold by the kg / lb. Let me rephrase that, **#cruising** #sailboats are sold by the lb / kg. Mass nearly directly translates to comfort, whether you are referring to more volume/bigger boat or if you are referring to its heavier construction/more complex furnishings, or the non-intuitive light air performance.
So a #cruiser pays more than the #racer up front, but the racer pays more for go-fast gear. It is a balance, of sorts.
Well it's a sad day I have decided to get rid of my sailboat. If you know anyone in the Orange County area interested in an amazing 1976 50' Columbia. I am letting her go very cheap.
I didn't have the time to sail or take care of her and she deserves better.
