Learn about #STARvoting online at 5, or in #Portland #Oregon, 🌟 Pizza Party at 6:30

🌟 STAR lets you support every candidate you like.
🌟 Automatic 2-step process much simpler than #RankedChoiceVoting (aka IRV or STV).
🌟 Preference between the two most popular options always counts equally for every voter.
🌟 Instead of going haywire when 2+ similar candidates enter a race, STAR ends vote-splitting and can smoothly transition our politics from polarization to consensus.

How does #STARvoting compare to #RankedChoiceVoting (IRV) and other methods, in terms of voter satisfaction vs strategy? (Including St Louis Approval with Top Two runoff, and likely your city's Plurality with Top Two runoff)

STAR gives a slight advantage to "Honest Inflation", which is giving your favorite 5 stars because you want them to win this election. STAR simply sums the points for the "primary" round, then it's an automatic runoff between the top two, pairwise

Are you dissatisfied with the election results?

Then today, you should advocate for an improved voting system which would let you better express your preferences, including for 3rd parties or independents.

@freeformz not only that, we require them to metaphorically line up behind a single candidate, even when counting "Rank choice" IRV/STV 🙃 But #ApprovalVoting and #STARvoting (and some ranked ballot counting methods, mostly pairwise ones) don't diminish your voting power when you like more candidates because your lesser favorites are counted simultaneously. Wild is that the majority of voters often like the majority of candidates and we don't seem to see this.

"I'm pretty sure pigs can fly." says every person who has heard it's true a thousand times but hasn't really evaluated the claim in detail or tested it. 😞 FairVote has so much money to spread "your vote is always counted" misinformation about #RankChoice (and lies about #STARvoting), that nobody tries to see through the second or third round of IRV/RCV/STV that is just a shell-game stall tactic to prevent #VotingReform starvoting.org

STAR VotingSTAR VotingWe should be able to vote our conscience, our votes should never be wasted, and our elections should accurately reflect the will of the people. It's not rocket science. It's Star Voting.

#Eugene Oregon voters, check out the town hall with #STARvoting at 5pm tomorrow (Thurs) at the downtown library, learn about your chance to adopt this great voting method in your spring election and end vote-splitting in your city.

I just discovered that the #STARvoting hashtag has been getting some use: not often, and mostly not recently, but encouraging! (By way of explanation: I used to be an advocate of STV, but since noticing some problems with ranked-choice voting as implemented in Minneapolis, I came to a conclusion that STAR voting in one of its many forms would probably be a big improvement not only on RCV but on STV too).
